Hey mechanics,

First of all, I wish you all a happy new year.

This morning, I tried to remove the front parking light bulbs on my Golf 4 TDI with air conditioning. I also found and removed the covers that need to be taken off without any problems. However, I can't seem to reach the bulbs. The car is so tightly packed that you probably need special tools or the hands of a 4-year-old to get to them icon_evil.gif.

I don't want to have to drive to the workshop for every little thing, and especially not to pay for 30 minutes of labor just to replace a light bulb.

Eike.

Hi Eike,

Happy New Year to you too!

It's a bit tricky to explain how the parking light bulbs are installed without a picture to refer to. Generally, the headlights are always secured with a wire clip, otherwise there are rotating or push-in sockets. If I remember correctly, the parking light bulbs in the IVer are simply pushed in. You should be able to see where they are located from the front, and then you can feel them from the back after removing the covers.

If you don't have a Security Related Access (SRA), you should be able to access everything. My TDI with air conditioning is even somewhat "accessible" in that regard. You just have to remove a cover on the driver's side, but otherwise, it's doable.

For this and the following examples: detailed illustrations are included in the "How it's done" section. Without these, I wouldn't even touch a lamp myself.
Gruß
Roger

Hello,

So:
VieSuccess!

Best regards, Jens.

Okay, I always change my headlights by quickly removing the entire headlight assembly; in my opinion, that's the fastest way, and besides, I don't get my hands scratched doing it. icon_idea.gif

Hi,

welche Schrauben lĂśst Du dafĂźr? RDo the superiors decide?
It looks like, in my case, you would also have to remove the front grille to do that.

Regards,

Eike.
