Yesterday, when I was turning my Golf into a parking space, I heard a loud noise from the front left, similar to an old carriage. Since the wheel bearing was recently replaced, I immediately feared the worst and anticipated expensive repairs.
After troubleshooting with the jack (up and down, up and down,

), I was able to identify the cause:
A stiff ball joint in the adjustment mechanism of the automatic headlight leveling system (xenon headlights). The vibrations are transmitted to the mounting plate on the control arm, which explains the high noise level that one would not expect from such a delicate joint.
Expanded, treated with silicone, and peace is restored...
