A4 Doku: Emergency Mode After Heavy Load (KW 09/1999) (Solution)

After strong acceleration, the engine enters limp mode, with error codes 18047 or 00777 indicating an "implausible signal from the throttle position sensor."

Cause:
In the throttle position sensor, increased wear on the potentiometer track can lead to an insulating layer with occasional voltage drops. In case of a fault, the gasoline engine will reduce torque by 50%, and the diesel engine will go into limp mode at 1500 rpm. After turning the ignition off and on again, the intermittent error is reset, and the vehicle regains full engine power.
