Hello, does anyone know the cause?
A4 V6 TDI Quattro AKN, manufactured in June 1999 - Vibrations at 1500 RPM when...
For example, I accelerate (not fully) starting from 1200 RPM in 5th gear.
Does the entire car vibrate subtly, specifically between 1500 and 1600 RPM?
Revolutions per minute.
Above 1600 RPM, the vibrations disappear.
It sounds like the whole car is vibrating slightly.
as if it's coming from below (drive?).
Info: To my knowledge, there is no chip involved, and the vibrations occur even with just a slight increase in throttle within the 1500-1600 RPM range.
Thank you in advance, hd.

Hello,
Up to chassis number 8D XA 261 213, there was an issue between 1400 and 2000 RPM. The cause was a faulty timing belt tensioner roller and/or a faulty timing belt tensioner. This can lead to extreme deviations in the valve timing.
Furthermore, there were issues with faulty or dirty fuel injectors. This resulted in engine hesitation under load between 1200-1800 RPM in the higher gears. Tschüss

hello michael,
Thank you very much for your reply.
hat fin xa303652.
Could it also be related to the turbocharger?
When the car is idling (warm) and you're standing behind it, the turbo sometimes makes a whistling sound at the exhaust.
Would it be possible to get a turbocharger replaced under warranty with 95,500 km on the odometer?
and manufactured on June 15, 1999 (with all entries in the service booklet from Audi)?
You're welcome.

Hello,
To be able to give you a more precise answer, you should conduct or have someone conduct a measurement test. Once the data from the test is available, we can analyze it further. Tschüss

Hi,
I also had (and still have) that problem.
It's an A4 V6TDi AFB Quattro.
The workshop tried replacing the timing belt and tensioner roller, but that didn't improve the situation.
Then they replaced the engine with a new one, including the fuel injection pump, injectors, and various other parts -> no improvement.
Then they replaced the gearbox with a new one, which resulted in some improvement.
Then they replaced all the drive shafts and the propeller shaft -> no improvement.
Therefore: after approximately €25,000 in repair costs, very little has been achieved, and a proper fix is not currently listed as an available service; only futile attempts have been made.
Who else is having this problem?
 Stefan.
Okay: There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the measurements that could indicate a defect. ALL the measurements are optimal!

hello stefan,
Thank you for your contribution. I hope you were able to resolve everything amicably!

Hi, I had the same problem with an A6, model year 2001, AKN, automatic transmission.
Hold a screwdriver or extension between your ear and the oil pan on the lower left side (below the oil cooler) and listen to see if you can hear the chain drive of a VR6 engine with 200,000 km . If you do, check the chain tensioner for the balance shaft. In my case, the lever for the lifter was broken. After replacing the tensioner and the balance shaft, it ran smoothly again, like on the first day.
Don't worry about the turbo; if you hear whistling after 2 minutes of idling, it's likely your EGR valve that's shutting off.
Best regards, Harm.

Hello there,
My AFB Quattro was manufactured in December 1998 and had approximately 90,000 km on the odometer when I reported it in January 2002.
It all started with Audi covering 60% of the cost as a gesture of goodwill; the rest was taken over by VVD.
If there's actually a defect in a chain tensioner, why did it still occur in a completely new engine?
I'm definitely on the verge of scrapping this thing.
 Stefan.
