Hi
With VAGCOM, it is possible (with the engine idling) to control the turbocharger valve via actuator diagnosis, which then moves the VTG from one end to the other.
However, the residual vacuum is only sufficient for a few full strokes.
Unfortunately, when the engine is running, the overboost protection (at least in the AFN) comes into effect before the turbocharger valve, and when testing this, the engine naturally stalls.
Cleverly done.

"... especially since the starter motor only receives power when the ignition is switched off and then on - meaning that you can drain the battery before this, but it won't start.
And after turning the ignition off, the diagnostic system starts from scratch, so starter motor to fuel pressure valve --> see above.
Whether you could bypass the software by directly connecting the starter motor to the battery, I don't know... if so, it would be a relatively convenient method to reset the VTG and hope for improvement for a few days or weeks.
In the medium and long term, however, I believe that the large canister is the only true solution."
