A question came up from my circle of friends:

Quote:
Since both (!) front woofers in my car have been malfunctioning for quite some time (although the speakers in the back are present, they are not connected), but not always at the same time, I would like to investigate the issue.

I therefore suspect the crossover filters. To confirm this for sure, I would first need to know where they are located, and whether I, as a regular person, can access them without breaking any plastic parts (okay, to be honest, with that car, it probably wouldn't matter if I broke one more part, because a large portion of the plastic parts are already prone to falling off just by looking at them...

If it's the same with the VW as it is with the A3, then the crossover is no longer like a capacitor, directly connected to the speaker.

...which in this case likely only applies to the high-tone areas. According to that, does the subwoofer get the entire frequency range?

Where could the vulnerability lie that would cause the deep-sea vehicles to fail?

Hi, I haven't been able to access the forum for the past few days. You're right, the mid-bass speakers in the doors are receiving the full frequency range. However, there can be many potential sources of error, such as the cables in the door hinge. I'm also not ruling out the possibility that the radio itself is faulty; the quote suggests that an aftermarket radio might be installed. It might also be due to the wiring behind the radio; I've made some pretty awful discoveries back there with things like screw terminals and power taps.
The "Hochtöner" will probably continue playing, even in problem situations.

Then please check the woofers for continuity; the coil may be burned out. Unplug the radio before you start.
