Hello,
While there's already a thread about the Polo's pre-heating system, the Octavia's Climatronic system is different...
Now my question is, is it possible to install a parking heater in an Octavia with a reasonable amount of effort?
I purchased a used device from a recycling center, preferably from a Passat 3BG or Golf IV, as they have the same Climatronic unit.
How difficult is the installation process, and what should I be aware of?
It appears that in the compact class, Eberspächer is focusing on a pure water heater system (DxW, where D = Diesel, x = heating power in kW, and W = water heater). Air heaters, like the one in our T4 that directly heats the interior, seem to be unavailable, and furthermore, there would likely be problems with the piping into the interior.
And generally speaking, it's more sensible to warm up the engine first and avoid starting it when it's cold.
"Does anyone have experience with installation work? I've been putting this project off for two years because I lack the necessary knowledge."

Hello 4x4,
Since you're mentioning the Climatronic system in the 3BG model:

General installation instructions can be found, for example, here.

When it comes to diesel-powered standing heaters, it's important to note that many are controlled via the CAN bus, which makes them less suitable for retrofitting. 1993 Audi 80 B4 1Z

Hello,
That's great, I already have so much information now - thank you to everyone involved!
"Of course, I will make sure to get a standard model without CAN functionality to avoid the problems mentioned above!"
Greetings.

If it turns out to be an Eberspächer and not a Webasto, I'll have the answers to your questions about the auxiliary heater.
