Hi.
I've been having a problem with my Bora, manufactured in 1999, since yesterday. It won't start anymore.
It beeps and displays "immobilizer active" on the AI system. The spare key doesn't work either.
Nothing was changed on the car. No battery disconnected, no radio replacement, etc.
I once checked the error memory.

I was also unable to detect any damage caused by martens.
I'll check again later today.
Right now, I only have two possible approaches left. AI malfunction or both keys lost.
What do you mean? Did I miss something?
Regards, Bolzer.

While it doesn't directly relate to the spare key issue, perhaps it could be stored somewhere near a strong magnet?

Webster: How do you arrive at such a statement?
Do you know how WFS works? The chip in the key does not function like a magnetic stripe on a credit card, which can be rendered useless by a magnet.
The chip in the key is an active component...
@ Bolzer : Please delete any errors and see which of the two WFS-relevant ones reappears.
I'm leaning more towards a reading coil, but we'll see.
Greetings.
Guste.

I already understand how an RFID chip works.
However, the problem still occurs!
My friend once experienced this issue with a 6N model. I suspect that the "magnetically charged" part of the key might sometimes interfere with the coil. (magnetic field -> minimal voltage disturbance?)

Hi.
I already tried to delete those errors yesterday.
There are 2 errors remaining.
01039 - Coolant temperature sensor (G2).
64-10 - Currently not verifiable - Sporadic.
Key - unauthorized.
I don't remember the numbers anymore. It was definitely not the correct key.
Regards,
Bolzer.

If an aftermarket radio is installed, reject it. Then disconnect the battery, wait 1 minute, and then test - WITHOUT connecting the radio .

Hi.
There's an LG radio installed. However, nothing has been modified on that radio, meaning it's been installed for years. Perhaps you can explain to me what's going on with it? I will try it, but I don't currently understand what the connection is.
Regards, Bolzer.

Therefore, to put it briefly, starting around 1996, radios began to be connected to the diagnostic system via the K-line. However, aftermarket radios may output 12 volts on this pin, which can short-circuit the K-line, making proper diagnostics impossible or difficult.
The car itself isn't affected by any of this, but there are problems when trying to read the data.

Hi.
Thank you for the explanation. That makes sense. I'll try it out today. The car is parked a bit further away. That's why I couldn't always try everything out right away.
I will get back to you.
Best regards, Bolzer.

Hi.
Bora is running again.
I removed the radio. I disconnected the battery. Error fixed, and it's running.
Even after several attempts to start, there are no more error messages.
Unfortunately, I can't understand why, but the K-Line (chamber 3) was not connected to the radio. An adapter plug was used, and it only had the power and ground wires connected. All other cables are not connected.
 Wireless Power Cable
Let's leave the radio outside for now. Let's see if everything stays okay now.
Very competent and objective explanations.
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Bolzer.
