hi ho,
Can someone explain what having two K-lines means? How does the diagnosis of the second K-line work exactly?
There is an original Audi switch 'VAS 6017A (part number Z 405160 WE)', but how does it work?

I'm looking forward to your replies.

Hi.

If the electronics in a vehicle malfunction, not all control units (ECUs) can be connected to a K-line for electrical reasons.
I don't know the maximum number of items per K-Line right now.

The technician calls both K-lines (simultaneously or sequentially), for example, "Please respond on the STG line for the ashtray hydraulics," and the STG responds on its K-line.
Subsequently, the conversation proceeds as usual, meaning one tester and one subject talk, while the rest remain silent.

Yes, I had thought so too, but I'm currently trying to figure out how to implement this more simply from a circuit design perspective.
mmm, maybe I just need to build the circuit again and simply connect the RS-232 interface lines in parallel, or even more simply, just jumper the existing K-line to the pin of the second K-line.

What do you think about it? Do you think it would work?

Hi.

In the adapter-related article in the "Tips & Tricks" section, one of my ideas for a double-K adapter was featured until recently (?).

I just noticed that the link is missing... icon_eek.gif
@Rainer: Since when, and why?

@golf-vw: If you're interested, I can email you the wiring diagram.

I found some more information about the switchover.

I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

Surely, there must be a way to do it electrically, but how?

How does the switch know which K-line to query at what time?

The switch doesn't need to know that.

The signal is always sent to ALL control units (and BOTH K-lines).

In the receiving direction, the two lines are logically OR-linked. This is relatively simple to implement electrically, as the K-line carries +12V in the idle state and is pulled to ground by the connected devices. You only need to combine the two K-lines into a single K-line using appropriate drivers.

The communication system doesn't have any problems because the diagnostic tester acts as the master, and only the requested control unit is allowed to respond; all other units must remain silent.

I wonder why they don't just integrate these basic, standard circuits into the vehicle from the start...
