Hello everyone!

Finally, the entire audio system is working again. I have a question about programming the injector parameters. I found instructions on the VCDS manufacturer's page on how to do this. On the new, used injectors from the new, used engine, there are numbers on them that shouldn't be there according to the instructions. Here are the allowed markers:

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,K,L,M,N,O,P,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z

Here is an image of an injector installed in my system:

I see that it says: AI87F1I

In all other injectors, there is also at least one 'I'. I haven't tried to type the 'I' yet. The values will be entered in channels 071 to 076 if I understand correctly, under the entries '01-Motor'/'Adaption-10'.

Is this all correct? What does the 'I' refer to?

Best regards!

Frank

Hello Frank,

According to my information, the use of "I" is permitted. I don't know why the "I" is missing from your source.

The procedure is correct.

Best regards, Rainer

Injector Quantity Adjustment (IMA) and Injector Voltage Adjustment (ISA)

These values represent the behavior of an injection valve (Piezo Injector). Due to manufacturing tolerances, the injectors have a unique behavior and are divided into separate classes. In combination with the automatically determined learning values of the engine control module, the pre- and post-injections are calculated individually for each valve. The behavior of an injection valve is also mileage-dependent, so a valve with, for example, 10,000 km has a different behavior than one with 70,000 km. The control module determines these automatically while driving, so the learning values change with mileage. When changing one of the following values, the learning values are reset because the ECU thinks you are adjusting a new valve.

The IMA-ISA values need to be adapted when:

One or more injection valves have been replaced. Make sure not to adjust the valves that have not been changed!
The engine control module has been replaced.
Do NOT adapt these values when you did not replace one of the above parts, also not for training or demonstration purposes.

The adjustment code can be found on the injector itself; it is a 7-digit value and only uses the following characters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z. A value of AAAAAAA is also not valid.

Prerequisites:

Ignition ON
Engine OFF

[Select]
[01 - Engine]

[Adaptation - 10]
Channel 071: IMA-ISA Value for Cylinder 1
Channel 072: IMA-ISA Value for Cylinder 2
Channel 073: IMA-ISA Value for Cylinder 3
Channel 074: IMA-ISA Value for Cylinder 4
Channel 075: IMA-ISA Value for Cylinder 5
Channel 076: IMA-ISA Value for Cylinder 6
[Test]
[Save]
[Done, Go Back]

Switch Ignition OFF, wait 10 seconds and switch Ignition ON again. The values should be saved now, please verify them by double checking the adaptation values.

The Test value will display "AAAAAAA" if an implausible value has been entered. If the IMA-ISA value on the new injector is difficult to read, consider scanning the QR code with a smart phone app.

My position is also that the "I" can be entered without any problems!

Does there exist a document that provides information about what these parameters stand for?

Hello!

As far as I know, there are manufacturing tolerances that result in a different feed rate.
balanced.
By entering the code, the engine control unit performs a fine adjustment of the injection timing.

Hello everyone!

Okay, the codes have been entered. It worked perfectly. I wasn't expecting the acoustic effects to be so pronounced. The engine is much quieter and runs more smoothly than before (don't worry, I only revved it while stationary...).

I've just put a 5-day temporary license plate on, so we'll see if everything is working properly. He drives it, the automatic transmission is still a bit 'rough', but it noticeably improves with each kilometer...

Best regards!

Frank
