Hi everyone!

Since I'm currently in the process of installing a nice RS front bumper on my 4er, I'm also considering installing a larger intercooler in the center of the bumper at the same time.

What do you think about it?
Would that provide more performance, or should I just forget about it?

I would be happy to read what you think about it. icon_biggrin.gif

Please measure the intake air temperature behind the air mass sensor.
If the temperature exceeds 40°C under load, it might be a good idea to do something about it.

...before you drill holes in the intake manifold: you can read the charge air temperature via the diagnostic interface, and there is already a sensor in the intake manifold for this purpose in TDI engines.

Best regards, Rainer.

Greetings, Rainer

Thanks, everyone!

I'm going to take my laptop with me tomorrow morning and take some measurements.
Okay, so if the temperature goes above 40°C, then a larger intercooler will be beneficial.

Would it really make a significant difference if I increased the air temperature to, for example, 34°C, or even lower?

Thank you in advance.

Hello!

I'm considering installing a larger intercooler.

My ALE (presumably referring to an engine management system or similar) is chipped, and it runs at 0.9 bar of boost pressure under full load.

He seems to be misfiring slightly when accelerating, especially at higher RPMs (I suspect he might need more air in the combustion chambers... perhaps a larger throttle body?).

Now, I would like to install a second or a larger LLK (likely referring to a liquid-cooled oil cooler), perhaps one from a T4 with a 2.5 TDI engine.

Does it make sense, and is it appropriate?
Thank you!

@ Henrik

My 1Z engine isn't chipped and also produces 0.9 bar of boost pressure (completely stock).

What is the connection then?

Some people also refer to a cheat device as a chip icon_exclaim.gif icon_question.gif.

Best regards, Rudi.

Okay, my "chip" has a resistance of 550 ohms and provides more than 17% more thrust icon_twisted.gif.

The LLK (likely referring to the EURO3 AHU) probably still has some reserves.

My 1Z (which is the engine code AHU) only heats up to a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius above the outside temperature at the intake manifold.

Yes, I have already read that.
Essentially, it states that a larger language model is pointless without further fine-tuning.

I have a chip that, when used with the larger LLK, is more effective, which is why I'm asking if the T4 LLK will fit with my setup. Sorry about that.

But now, a standard 1Z engine also has a pressure of 0.9 bar?
I don't know what the boost pressure was before, but now (since the chip was installed 2 years ago), it's 0.9 bar at full load (and it accelerates a bit faster and has about 10 km/h more top speed).
'So, I could potentially increase the LD (low-pressure) further, maybe to 1.1 bar. Can I achieve this in a similar way to how I adjusted the TD (turbocharger boost), by simply disconnecting the hose to the control unit? Or are there other, more cost-effective methods?'

Can you find everything using the search function "10 cent tuning"?

Okay, ich bin bereit. Gib mir den Text.

You definitely didn't affect the turbocharger's boost pressure by modifying the EGR system!

The TDI regulates the pressure electronically, so it's not as simple as just turning a knob.

Why do you want more pressure? You're driving with DIESEL, not air.

Here's some more information about printing:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

The Y-axis represents absolute mBar values (so, at 2000, you subtract approximately 1013 mBar, leaving almost 1 bar of boost pressure).

Everything's fine! 1Z.
