Hello and GA,

I would like to introduce myself briefly before I give my first {SPEECH/PRESENTATION/LECTURE}. Post my contribution and my questions here:
My name is Manfred, and I'm from Tyrol; I own the two vehicles listed below, which are VWs, and I unfortunately have more experience with basic mechanical work than with programming via OBD - sorry...

Therefore, I purchased a VCDS system and hope to learn a lot with this device. (I have already been able to use it successfully twice - for example, to clear simple error codes - ua. AGR Failure after Valve Malfunction (due to membrane tear).

Now, however, I have been dealing with a small problem with my "big" = Touareg for quite some time:
The GRA is activated by pressing a button, and this feature unfortunately needs to be repeated after every restart – I find this very inconvenient, especially since I use the vehicle for a large part of my driving on the highway. A continuous ON and OFF function, activated by pressing a button, would be much more appealing to me

I would appreciate it if someone here could perhaps offer a solution, preferably with as detailed an instruction manual as possible, as I am still quite new to this and I don't want to make a mistake right away. I want to break the code. javascript:emoticon('icon_twisted.gif')

I would be very happy to receive a message - THANK YOU!

Good evening

Hello Manfred, there might be an error somewhere that you can then see with the Autoscan (checking all the STG's in the car).

Hello,

I don't know the Touareg in detail, but isn't it the case that you either activate GRA using SET (and simultaneously set the current speed as the new target value) or activate the "Resume Set Speed" function by pulling the GRA lever?

The brake should be activated by either pressing (tapping) the GRA lever or operating the brake pedal.

Maybe consult the user manual. That it can be reprogrammed with reasonable effort would be new to me.

Best regards, Rainer

I also don't know about the GRA switch on the "Dicken" [presumably referring to a specific control or setting], but it's possible that an existing error is affecting the cruise control function. Therefore, let's take a look for errors.

Since when is it like this? / Was it different before?

Hello and Good Morning,

I apologize for the misunderstanding: When I said "turning on the GRA," I meant that the system is activated and the corresponding symbol appears on the instrument panel, but it is not yet used for speed control.
In many other VAG models, this is achieved by flipping a small switch, as in the Golf. Unfortunately, with the Touareg, this requires pressing a button - which doesn't lock into place and therefore must be "activated" (pressed) again after every restart.

The GRA is functioning perfectly without any errors...

Best regards

That's due to the signal output. This could potentially be adapted in the engine control unit (ECU) (e.g., the minimum speed, etc.), but the effort is too high and therefore too expensive icon_wink.gif

To get back to the missing diagnostic protocol, for older models, there were updates for the control panel inserts and also engine control units, sometimes that's enough... icon_wink.gif
