11-01-2012, 14:16 Subject: LMM with different part numbers for the same vehicle? |

Hello to the community,
I'm looking for a suitable mass airflow sensor (MAF sensor) for the following vehicle:
Golf 5: TDI 77kW with DPF.
Check-in: 07/01,
MKB: BLS,
Now Bosch offers two different mass airflow sensors (MAF sensors) with different part numbers.
1: 0 281 002 531 (is now installed)
2: 0 986 284 009
The part numbers originate from various sources. Online retailers who sometimes offer both options simultaneously.
Which one is correct? Is 0 986 284 009 also a suitable number? This one is usually cheaper.
What are the differences? Why is a deposit required? The old item must be returned.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Take a look at the VW parts service directly. That's where you'll find the correct part number. "No., an original part, and a comparison price, which is often not higher than the internet price including shipping costs, etc."

Both parts are identical; number 1 is the original number, and number 2 is the replacement number. You can either buy original Bosch parts from a parts dealer or through a VW dealer. Hey fellow BLS drivers,
What does the LMM have?
Is he definitely gone?
Something's wrong again, and so soon after the throttle body issue?
How much did your BLS run for?
I didn't notice anything unusual with mine (137,000 km), but I think I can forgive it even if it only has 75 horsepower left, because the transition from the 3C engine can be quite drastic. Almost everything is the same, but there is significantly less power, and the R-gear of the MQ250 is NOT synchronized, unlike the MQ350 (Passat).

Hello Martin,
Our BLS now has 130,000 kilometers on the odometer. The ash content has increased to 40g.
The fuel consumption is currently exceeding 7 liters, even though it's a long-distance drive.
The engine shakes intermittently when idling.
A noticeable 'camel effect' can be felt during acceleration.
I then changed the air filter, even though the service manual stated it should be replaced only after 45,000 kilometers.
While doing that, I noticed dirt in the intake manifold. Expanded and cleaned.
Then I increased the LMM (likely referring to a liquid metal mass flow rate)... the sensor surface was a nice brown color. So, I cleaned that part with brake cleaner.
But now, the camel effect is even more pronounced. The shaking at idle is even more intense and frequent.
That's why the theory suggests that there isn't much happening with the LMM anymore.
Do you also have that mesh screen under the air filter?
I haven't driven it for a while, and when I wasn't using it, the acceleration felt noticeably better. Now that I'm using it again, it's back to being the same.

That's precisely why you need to return the old one. The retailer isn't responsible for this; I have to pay a deposit for the new Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor because Bosch requires the old ones to be returned. As far as I know, the housings are being reused, and it's probably also a good idea to remove defective parts from the market, otherwise they might reappear on online marketplaces like eBay as "perfectly functional until disassembly."
The deposit for the mass flow meter (LMM) is usually around €29.

What?!
I "offer" 137,056 km and 27.0 grams.
Meanwhile, the number is also 6.8, but that's due to the urban hustle and bustle.
When he was still running long distances (122,000 km in 20 months), as far as I know, it was always 5.5 ± 0.4.
What does the differential pressure sensor read when the system is stationary?

Differential pressure at standstill? Idle speed ???
Good question, unfortunately, I only have a VAGCOM version for the Golf 4 without CAN.
What kind of stock would that be? I'm also curious about that.
Do differential pressure sensors also break down? Could this potentially cause the camel ride to happen?
The error memory is at least empty.
One thing that is also very noticeable is the very strong engine braking.
It's impossible to drive downhill without using the accelerator; with my old Golf 4, I had to constantly brake, but I could still save fuel.
What about the grid underneath the air filter?

That doesn't really fit with the other factors.
What is his diesel consumption at idle, in liters per hour (cold, warm)?
The differential pressure gauge is located in room 067.

The MFA displays the following when idling.
cold: 0.8-0.9 L/h, very cold: sometimes 1.0 L.
Warm to 0.6-0.7 L/h.
And it just shakes occasionally. The warmer it gets, the more often it happens.
I'll read out MWB 67 tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately, the car is driven by my wife, so I rarely get to use it.
