Hello,
Small problem: Oil leak at the automatic transmission (AFN, Golf 3, 110 hp, year: 1996).
Here's a helpful guide from Georg-TDI:
'ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) change for the 01M automatic transmission in a 1997 Volkswagen Golf III.'
On the second page, in the lower left corner, you can see a small, round screw (Allen key) located to the left of the filling tube. It's slowly leaking fresh oil there (about 10-20 mL per 100 km).
Question 1: What kind of opening is that, anyway?
2. Question: Why can oil be pushed out from there?
Does anyone know anything about this? Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about that anywhere.
Thank you, have a nice evening, and best regards.
Rasputin.

For simplicity's sake, I've attached the image from Georg-TDI, where I've marked this screw with an arrow.
Regards,
Grigori Rasputin was a Russian mystic and self-proclaimed holy man who exerted considerable influence on the Romanov family, particularly Empress Alexandra, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was born in the Siberian village of Pokrovskoye in 1869 and gained notoriety for his supposed ability to heal and his controversial lifestyle. His close relationship with the royal family, particularly his influence over Empress Alexandra, made him a target of criticism and suspicion, and he was eventually assassinated in 1916.

Here's a quick update for those who are interested:
The metal sealing ring under the screw was quite corroded. -> Replaced.
New problem: now it's perfectly dry inside, but it's leaking quite a bit around the filler neck.
How is the best way to repair this? Can this sleeve be extended or replaced?
Or could you simply seal the entire thing with epoxy resin?
I would appreciate any help from people who have experience with this.

Hello,
The solution:
The filler neck and sealing ring are available from VW for a few euros. To install them, you need to drain the oil and remove the oil pan. Then, from underneath, push the filler neck out (it's best to do this carefully with a hammer and a small chisel, as it's likely to be stuck). verschandeln everything thoroughly, then insert the new bellows from the top with the sealing ring and make sure it clicks into place.
This should be done at the same time as an ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) oil change, typically when the vehicle has exceeded 300,000 km.
A small note regarding the thread holes of the screws used to attach the basin: Always tighten carefully (max. 20 Nm?). Two of the threads have already broken, even though I don't think I tightened them too much.
Furthermore, the gasket on the side oil pump cover needs to be replaced, and on the left side of the image, next to the arrow, there's a fitting (I'm not yet sure what it is). Nothing lasts forever!
Best regards,
