I noticed during the speaker installation that water occasionally accumulates (perhaps after driving in the rain, etc.) in all 4 doors of my Golf IV. See the picture http://320036920636.bei.t-online.de/wasser.jpg. The photo was taken through the speaker hole, 'into' the door. Is this amount of water still considered normal?

In this amount, I consider the water accumulation to be not normal. While I believe there are drain holes in the doors, water should not be standing. I also think it's possible that the doors are completely sealed from the outside, which would mean you would have to search for a hole.

Water was leaking in through the front of the A-pillars. Replacing the door seals helped. There was also a repair recommendation in the VW database for my local dealer... it only applied to the first model year of the Golf IV. It involves replacing both the outer and inner seals. Apparently, the outer seals on my car were already the new ones, so I replaced the inner ones as well, and it hasn't leaked since. Also, the car is MUCH quieter now!

Hi,

Well, the rubber seals around the windows on doors aren't really that airtight, are they?
I can only see individual droplets in the image.
It's important that the holes at the bottom of the door are not blocked by sealant or anything similar, so that the door can eventually dry out.

Best regards, Rainer.
