Hello everyone, great forum.
I'm having a problem:
I own a 1999 Passat 3B V6 TDI and I've already had 4 new mass airflow meters replaced. Each time with a deductible (150,- Euro) under warranty. The problem is that VW is well aware of this issue, and according to the mechanic, the cause is a design flaw in the air filter housing. This allows moisture to enter the mass airflow meter, causing it to fail after about 2 months. If you think that VW would replace the housing, you're wrong. They want me to pay for it (150,- Euro). Do you have any experience or a solution?
Now, my current problem is:
In November of last year, I received a new timing belt (751,- Euro) and, at the same time, a new LMM (150,- Euro, warranty claim after complaint in Wolfsburg).
Since then, my car has been consuming an average of over 10 liters per 100 kilometers. Now I've noticed that he also smokes heavily (light grey) and no longer takes a full draw (end tempo is also not working).
What could this be?
Another VW repair shop said it might be a problem with the timing belt installation (specifically, the timing, fuel pump, or turbocharger), and I should go back to my original repair shop because they need to fix it.
Can't we just put a stop to the incompetence of the workshops?
I'm really fed up now and have just ordered a diagnostic system.
Today in the afternoon, I have a meeting with the workshop. I'm already curious to see what's broken now and what it will cost to fix.
I hope you have some advice!
Best regards, Oliver
