VW Touareg 3.0 TDI / Ignition not starting

After a long period of suffering with my beloved VW Touareg, I'm posting here in the forum, hoping that someone can give me some advice.

Unfortunately, neither VW nor any other qualified personnel were able to help me with my problem.

About the vehicle:

VW Touareg.
3.0 TDI Automatic.
176 kW.
1. Market introduction: December 2007.
Mileage: Approximately 150,000 km.

"For the past year, I've been dealing with a problem where my car unlocks with the keyless entry system, but it won't start when I press the start button/key." The ignition isn't working, and the display only shows a bird's-eye view of the car.

The first time this happened to me, the tow truck driver was able to help me quite quickly, or he had a suspicion about what was causing it. He quickly disconnected the battery, and voila, everything worked perfectly again (he didn't know why, but it was supposedly a "Touareg problem").

Unfortunately, this error has occurred sporadically four times in the past year. Despite analysis using VCDS, consultation with qualified personnel, and online searches, I haven't been able to identify the cause, and I'm tired of having to carry a toolbox around with me to disconnect the battery every time.

I would appreciate your help.

Thank you for the quick response. Could you please provide a bit more detail, as I'm not an expert in this field.

Is it possible that the control unit is defective in this case? Or would the entire steering column need to be replaced?

Hello.

To the best of my knowledge, the entire steering column needs to be replaced because the steering column and the control unit are integrated into a single unit. I have experienced problems with Audi Q7 models on several occasions.

It could very well be caused by a loose connection in the wiring.
I would first have this thoroughly checked.

Otherwise, the classic Windows solution might work: reboot.
