Hello!
The power windows aren't working anymore. The central locking does work, though. I'm completely lost. Could it be that I somehow disabled something with the new switches? But the switches themselves are working, so they shouldn't be the problem, right??
I hope you can help me!
Sure, no problem! Here's the translation:

'Thank you in advance!'

Regards,
Thomas.

Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
Edit: Forget everything I wrote before about the possible X-contact that might have been compromised.

EnSorry.

There are two circuits in the ignition system: one that is switched off when starting (via the X-contact and relay 109 to provide more power for starting), and one that remains active.

It sounds like everything that isn't strictly necessary for startup is still running on your system. It seems like the X-contact / relay 109 is still active. However, the rest of the system seems to be completely down. That would suggest that some cable has likely burned out.

Regards,
Private.

Hello Thomas76,

I'm having trouble understanding your post. With all the modifications you've made, a nearly uncountable number of potential sources of errors have arisen.
Try to approach the task in a systematic way.

1.) Disconnect the battery (to prevent the situation from getting worse).
2.) Ideally, it would be best to restore the original condition.
3.) Pay particular attention to cables or connectors that you have modified or soldered, and check them for short circuits.

Hi,

Forget point 2 of my answer (I wouldn't do that anyway).
'Has any fuse blown? That would give you a starting point for troubleshooting. Otherwise, double-check all the switches and their connections to ensure proper wiring. Try to find the location where you saw smoke (cable, relay, or whatever). Is the instrument cluster also from a G4?'

Hello!
I found the error. This really can't be true. It was a ground cable that should have been connected to the brown ground terminals on the sides. It probably came loose during the removal of the old dashboard. Now everything works again icon_smile.gif. This just shows how a single cable can disable the entire car! And the smoke probably came from the steering column switch again. The grease is supposed to be normal on a Golf 3 and not a big deal.

Regards,
Thomas.
