Hello diesel mechanics,

I'm having a problem with my Polo 9N, manufactured in 2003, with engine code BAY.

I don't have any problems when accelerating. The problem arises when...
"For example, I'm driving on a country road. I put it in 5th gear and then accelerate fully. Then, what you see in the video happens. There are no error messages anywhere. Maybe someone has seen this phenomenon before."

I'm leaning towards it being the clutch, but could it be something else?

Thank you very much for your help in advance icon_smile.gif

This phenomenon has accompanied me for 12 years with my Golf 4.

Hello.

The clutch is slipping... although, considering it has 370,000 km on the odometer, it's not really surprising, as it's probably worn out.

Best regards, Rainer.

I had replaced the clutch. It worked fine for 4 weeks, and then the problem came back.
I will take a look at the posts that Bertil has made.

I'm going to install a new clutch slave cylinder first.
I'll report back later.

@Rainer

As mentioned above, I'm pressing the clutch, but what else could it be? icon_question.gif
.. Thank you anyway for the hint icon_smile.gif icon_thanks.gif

Damaged crankshaft.
Too much lateral play or misalignment, causing the pressure plate to be pushed down.
You can skip the receiver cylinder. It only helped me for a short time.

The amount of clearance in the release bearing should be significantly greater than any potential axial play in the crankshaft. Furthermore, any axial play in the crankshaft would contribute to additional, potentially fluctuating, "play" in the clutch.
When the clutch pedal is in its resting position, the balancing hole is open, which means that when the clutch is not engaged, it automatically adjusts in either direction.
The clutch may slip if there is insufficient pressure applied, or if the friction material has poor properties. A dual-mass flywheel (DMF) can also "slip" if the friction linings wear down (if that type of DMF is present). This could also explain the occasional slipping.
The engine type, or the parts available for power transmission, seem to have a fundamental problem. The replacement procedures described in the posts suggest this.
Is there a conversion option for the engine to use EMS? That would be a way to stop all the troubleshooting.

Hello everyone!

Thank you very much for getting this far.

Okay, so according to the AKTE system, there's no mention of a dual-mass flywheel (ZMS). It only lists the flywheel. The part number is 045105269.

That wouldn't be a wrong assumption. The flywheel also experiences wear and tear. Given the mileage, this would be a plausible explanation.

I will let you know when I'm ready.

Perhaps one of you knows whether this is a ZMS icon_smile.gif.

The fact is, whether it's the clutch disc or the flywheel, the surface can be glazed, which means the new clutch will be damaged again in a short amount of time.

Hello Rüdi.

Regarding the crankshaft, is the imbalance specific to it, or is it a general issue?

I had replaced the clutch slave cylinder. The problem was temporarily better/gone. Now it's back again...

Oh man... what should I do?

Does anyone have any advice?
