Hi, I've been having this problem for weeks now with my T4 2.5 petrol from 1995: it starts sometimes for a few days, then it won't start again.
I replaced the ignition switch, starter motor, and ignition coil.
I only have one key, but I don't think the problem is with the chip inside the key.
At VW, they wanted 156 euros for a new key.
No, I won't do that, as it probably wouldn't solve the problem.
Then, VW wanted to run a diagnostic test on the 200e to determine if there were any defects or malfunctions.
"No, I'm not doing that either; I think they're trying to rip me off out here in the countryside."
Okay, here's the translation:
"Now my question is, do I even need to bother with this? In other words, is it possible to disable the WFS (Workshop Information System) through software on my old car? And what would that cost me? Surely a hundred [currency unit] should be enough, right? It's not going to take 2-3 hours of work, is it?"
"Thank you."

The WFS (Weather Forecasting System) needs to be reprogrammed, and workshops cannot do that.
How does it manifest itself? Does it turn on for a second and then off?
Is the error memory full?

On "good" days, it just runs, even if I turn it off and on. It keeps running.
On bad days, like yesterday, I tried to start it in the morning and evening. It would start up five times in a row, but then turn off after 1-2 seconds.
"Can anyone help me program this? Or do I really have to replace the WFS and keys?"
is this the diagnosis section?

Hello,
This symptom can have several causes, and there are plenty of examples here in the forum. However, it seems that the WFS is already identified as the likely culprit...
Has everything else that might be relevant already been checked?

The item marked on the photo is the 2x2 diagnostic interface.
Best regards from Hesse.
P.S.
The Shift key seems to malfunction occasionally.

Okay, I meant the ignition switch.
Okay, then I'll look for a workshop that still carries the "2x2" device. Thanks.

There are also OBD2 to 2x2 adapters available.

To find a solution, you can search online using "Dr. Google," as there are many companies that offer this service.
I would either purchase an MSG (Message Service Gateway) and have the WFS (Web Feature Server) functionality disabled, or I would buy one that already has the WFS functionality disabled.

Morning, I'm confused, does the WFS need to be addressed through MSG?
I thought I would solve that within the WFS itself.

I thought I would solve that WITHIN the WFS itself | .
Who controls the engine ?
The engine control unit (MSG) communicates with the wheel theft system (WFS) via a data line. It checks whether the WFS has recognized a valid key. If not, the MSG shuts off the engine.
A corresponding control module (MSG) doesn't even check if a water pump system (WFS) is installed and simply allows the engine to run.
Therefore, only the MSG needs to be swapped with one that has its WFS disabled.
Regards,
Sure.

"Good day, I was surprised to discover that there are also Swiss people active in this forum; I'm from Basel."
However, I now suspect that the MSG is malfunctioning because it runs for one day and then doesn't work at all the next.
"Is there anyone in the Aargau/Basel-Landschaft/Basel-Stadt region who is a member and might be able to help with troubleshooting payment issues?"
Best regards.

What about the second key?
I just mean... the immobilizer is activated, the ignition switch and reading coil need to be replaced... only one key.
A workshop would be willing to show the documents here.

As a test, you could try to see how a new transponder is programmed for older vehicles. It might be possible that this can be done easily (with an existing key). However, it's also possible that you would need the correct login PIN for that process.
If it's a simple fix, you can buy the transponder separately for a small amount of money. It would be worth trying if there isn't a second key available.

hello guste100
I did some research and was planning to buy your VCDS HEX-V2, but now I've read something else.
Can vehicle keys be programmed using VCDS?
The "Remote Control" function for the central locking system can be programmed (adjusted) using VCDS. The "Transponder programming (adjustment)" function would only be possible with older vehicles and in conjunction with the vehicle-specific immobilizer code. The vehicle-specific immobilizer code cannot be read out using VCDS.
Okay, so if that doesn't work, I don't see any advantage to it. Then I'll just get the (OBD2 diagnostic kit). Does the (VCDS) do nothing then, or am I misunderstanding something?
and p.s. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Dieselschrauber I hope it arrives warm, hahaha.
