Deactivate Front Passenger Airbag in AKN Car

Hello,

As often happens, the front passenger airbag needs to be deactivated due to the presence of a child seat. In other discussions, people have mentioned using resistor solutions, and that this is not officially supported by VAG (Volkswagen Group).

Is the end resistance sufficient, or do I need to/can I disable the airbag using VAG-Com?
Is the resistor available from VAG, even if they don't support the process?

Hello Rene,

For safety reasons, I would disconnect the airbag electrically from the control unit and incorporate the termination resistors mentioned into the wiring.
The end resistors are sufficient; they simulate the presence of a connected airbag to the airbag control unit.
The part numbers should be known to your dealer, as this is a common problem.
