Resetting Serial Numbers in STG 03: How to Fix.

Hello everyone,

Today, I was planning to adjust the brake drying function on my 2020 Tiguan AD. Having done this on other cars in recent years, I knew exactly where to look.

However, there's nothing we can do to change that because, as you can see in the appendix, the operating number etc. has been reset to zero. (Or, as shown in the Screenshot, the VCDS suggestion of 12345 is already present.)

I've never seen anything like this before, and as you can see from the scan, other control units have data stored on them.

As I see it, neither the standard number 12345 nor any other number can be accepted, and the problem seems to be solely related to access permissions, as indicated by the error message that appears as a second notification.

The suggested price of 24990 is not an option.

Okay, here are my questions:
-Why is everything set to zero? Was something modified or tampered with (since it's a used purchase)?
-and of course, what login code do I need in this case to set the numbers and then be able to continue normally?

Hello,

You can enter the numbers mentioned in the VCDS program settings.

The control units store the values of the last change, if available.

Car scans can serve as inspiration.

If you don't enter anything in the VCDS program settings, VCDS will attempt to use the values stored within the respective control unit.

If it shows "00000" or similar values, it won't work. Please enter valid values for WSC and other settings in the program configuration.

Where do you get the valid values from? Surely there are some included in every Autoscan. X

I think I understand the part about valid values now.

I just did it with a completely fresh installation of VCDS: I entered the numbers first, then ran the connection test, saved the settings, and restarted.

As I understand it, you entered the login credentials for "General Customizations." However, the function you're looking for doesn't fall under that category.

According to my records, the login: 40304 is required for the brake disc drying process.

I don't know where you got the 40403 from, but that number was actually at least a partial solution now.

Okay, so the brake drying process has now started, BUT I'm still getting errors related to those three numbers, as you can see in the video.

Sorry for the late reply, but I was only able to follow up on this today.

In short, the login code 44595 is not being accepted, regardless of whether the cover is open or closed.

And then, just for fun, using the login from above (40304), trying it again with an open hood doesn't achieve anything different.

Sorry, thanks for the feedback! In that case, the ABS control unit simply won't support this setting.
