Windshield Washer Hose Repair Kit

"On my Sharan 7N, the hose leading to the windshield washer nozzles is broken near the hood hinge. There are repair kits available for this on eBay." In the past, I have already used a similar type of seal on a T5, and it didn't last for more than 2 years.

Is there a reliable and durable alternative to fix the damaged area? Ideally, I would prefer to switch back to the types of hoses that were available for the Golf 2/3 and Polo 6N generations. They should last at least 30 years...

The corrugated tubes are complete garbage! Already too stiff, and the alcohol content in the windshield de-icer causes further embrittlement, leading to its final disintegration.

Here's how I solved it for Uwe's high-performance T5.2: I measured the outer diameter of the corrugated tube and bought aquarium tubing with a matching inner diameter. I applied aquarium sealant to a 1 cm section at each end of the corrugated tube and then slid the larger aquarium tubing over it. The advantage is that the inner cross-section doesn't decrease, and the flow rate isn't reduced. However, I cut out a larger section of the corrugated tube and replaced it with the aquarium tubing. I didn't want the corrugated tube in the bending area, and the glued areas should also be outside the mechanically stressed area. This creation has now lasted through two winters and three summers.

Initially, Uwe tried to push a thinner hose into the corrugated hose and secure the "artwork" with hose clamps. The cross-section decreased, the pressure in front of the constriction increased, and eventually, his artwork burst apart.

I have now ordered a PVC hose after consulting with an online retailer, and I will seal it with PVC glue.

The original corrugated hose in 6x0.75mm costs approximately €20 for 1 meter. It lasts (at least in my case) for about ten years. The parts from online marketplaces might be of lower quality. I wouldn't spend too much time tinkering with those; I would simply buy a meter of the original hose and install it. If it lasts another ten years, that would be more than enough for me.

If you're not getting a good result, I would separate the moving area from the fixed area. Then, use a waterproof heat-shrink tubing (with adhesive on the inside) to connect the hoses "end-to-end."

My corrugated pipe has an outer diameter of 7.2 mm. That's why I ordered a transparent 7 mm PVC hose, which I will glue accordingly. These O-ring repair kits on eBay don't last very long. At least, that was the case with the T5 that I refurbished about 2 years ago.

The relevant question is, what do the 7.2 mm refer to? The original corrugated pipe with a size of 6x0.75 is used in many models, especially where flexibility is required.
For the Sharan 7N models from 2014 onwards, it's the same part number as for the A4 8K models from 2014. It's been almost ten years for me.

It's broken on mine, for some reason... Maybe someone messed with it when the windshield was replaced. I can't think of any other cause.

Then, go to a VW parts department and have them look up the correct part number and hose designation for you. It is likely 1J0 955 751 D, 6 x 0.75 mm . The dimensions refer to the end. Suggestion for diameter: inner.

The attempt to slip a PVC hose over it and glue it in place didn't work. Then my neighbor brought over his Herth+Buss connector assortment. We glued the 4mm connector in place using super glue. Hopefully, it will last a very long time.
