Hello.
First of all, I wanted to introduce myself...
I have a G 3/94 with a 1Z engine (190,000 km).
I've been the owner for about a week and haven't owned a Golf before. That's why I've been reading your forum, as I already encountered a small problem on my way home – specifically, an issue with the RPMs above 3200.
I'm already narrowing it down, but it will take some time because I don't have my own VAG-COM diagnostic tool. By the way, the error code indicates an issue with the fuel injection start setting.
I have replaced the timing belt, gear, and screw. The fuel filter is new. However, the problem still persists... well, I guess I can live with it somehow, since it only occurs at around 150 km/h.
Okay, now let's get to the actual problem, which I discovered today. After changing the oil and driving about 600 kilometers (on the highway at 150 km/h), I checked the dipstick and only half of the space between the two markings is filled with oil.
Yes yes yes, somehow I think I might have been... tricked...?
While I was handling the hoses connecting to and from the heat exchanger at the fittings, I noticed that my hands were oily, which shouldn't normally happen.
I just suspect that the turbo might be faulty somehow... especially since a 60 horsepower Polo 4 can easily keep up with me in terms of speed.
I just wanted to ask if you also have some kind of oil around the fittings, before I end up spending another night under the stage again...???

What problem do you experience starting at 150 km/h? Power loss, engine stalling...?
Do you currently have oil inside the LLK (likely referring to a specific piece of equipment), or outside on the LLK hose? 1993 Audi 80 B4 1Z

"That's too general. The oil in the intercooler is normal, as it's a byproduct of the slight lubrication of the turbocharger. It shouldn't be excessive. It's normal if you open the intercooler at one point and check with your finger, and you see a thin film of oil all around. Do this at a section of hose that's as horizontal as possible."
Otherwise, a decreasing oil level on the highway can also be due to the vehicle having previously only been driven in short distances. This can lead to water and diesel entering the engine oil, which evaporates at higher oil temperatures during longer drives.
You should try using the search function; we discussed this recently.
Otherwise, keep everything under observation. Connect a VAG Com or, even better, an LDA to check the boost pressure. verschandeln the intake path and take a look at the turbocharger shaft and its play. Check the fuel pump settings. Consider performing a compression test as oil loss can also occur if there's a defect in one of the cylinders. While doing that, inspect the glow plugs as it's winter. After all this, almost everything should be okay, and you'll have a reliable car.

It couldn't have been water or diesel contamination; the oil was fresh. I would start by checking the turbocharger.

Okay, welcome aboard!
To access the intercooler or its connections, simply remove the lower cover located between the bumper and the wheel arch. This will give you access to the lowest point of the air intake system. There should absolutely be no oil present in the pipes/intercooler at this point. A thin film of oil that can be removed with paper towels is acceptable, but nothing more! However, the removed cover itself is likely to be quite oily and dusty on its top surface, which is perfectly normal.
Pay attention to whether the boost pressure is constantly increasing and remaining at that level! Is there any hissing coming from the engine compartment? Tighten all the hose clamps in the charge air system.
Otherwise, use the method with VAGCom.

Is it emitting more blue smoke, either under load or when starting, or is it even leaving a small trail of blue smoke while driving?
Could it perhaps be 'just' a leak (e.g., a valve cover gasket), or is the machine dry underneath, or covered in oil?
