AGR hose: Which one is it? What's the other?

Hi.

I took off the engine cover from my Lion today and wanted to 'modify' the EGR hose a bit, but now there are two hoses there, and I'm not sure which one is which .

The shut-off valve is used to 'turn off' because the ignition is off, but I thought that wasn't the case with diesel engines... am I wrong this time?

You're right, you're thinking wrong .

Older TDI engines do not have a bypass valve and can still be turned off.
The flap only reduces the actual compaction and thus the shaking when stopping.
