Hello fellow enthusiasts,

Here's a small tip for everyone whose center console lighting has stopped working.
This tip applies to an Audi A3 without air conditioning.

In the central console, the fan speed control is located centrally. To the left of it is the temperature control, and to the right is the control for air distribution.
The shared light bulb for illuminating these three rotary knobs is located behind the blower speed control knob. Using a combination pliers and a cloth (to avoid scratching), you can pull off the knob with a quick tug.
Behind that, and quite deeply embedded, is the light.
To remove it, I used the conical nozzle from a standard silicone cartridge. You only need to cut off the tip so that the inner diameter is just large enough to fit over the light bulb. Then it can be easily pulled out.
With the same tool, you can now also press the new light bulb into the deeply recessed socket. To prevent it from being pulled out immediately, it is recommended to use a small screwdriver to press against the light bulb from the inside, through the nozzle, while you remove the auxiliary tool.
Then, simply reattach the knob and you're done.

This procedure might also be applicable to the center console lighting of Polo, G3, G4, and A4 models. However, this is just a guess, and I cannot verify it at this time.

Regards,
Alex.

Hello, I always use a piece of silicone tubing. If the bulb is deeply seated, you need to remove a little bit of the surrounding tissue (the shaft is very narrow).
When inserting the bulb, make sure to rotate the tube so that it fits properly. Continue rotating while gently pulling until the tube releases from the bulb, preventing it from being pulled out.

Hello!
The same principle applies to the Golf 4.
