Hello fellow enthusiasts,

I bought a replacement key for my Audi A4 (model year 2000) from the dealership.
How do I learn how to use the remote control? By 'learn,' I don't mean synchronizing it.
after a battery replacement.

Hi!

As far as I know from my recent experience with Letyten (speedometer replaced, which also meant the immobilizer was changed, I forgot to register a key, everything had to be done again...).

I guess you have to reprogram all the keys at the same time.

Ask your dealer... they'll know.

Regards,
Felix.

Hello,

Workflow for pairing new radio keys.

- Unlocking the vehicle from the outside using the driver's side door lock.
- Turn on the ignition (with an additional key).
- Check measurement block 007, display field 3 to see how many keys have already been paired.

Field 3 displays the number of radio keys that have been programmed and their respective storage locations (in the example, 2 keys are stored in locations 1 and 2).

- Lock the vehicle from the outside using the key to be programmed, by inserting it into the driver's side door lock.
- Within 5 seconds, press the "Open" button on the remote control as many times as necessary to reach the next available storage slot (in the example, 3 times).
Every time a button is pressed, the hazard lights are activated.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Press the "Open" button again. The vehicle will unlock. => The key has been successfully programmed.
- Turn off the ignition and remove the key.
- Checking the functionality of the new remote control.
- Checking measurement block 007, display field 3.

In field 3, the display shows how many radio keys are registered and on which storage locations. It should now show an additional "1" (in the example: 1110).

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Tips:"

"It is important to ensure that new keys are always programmed onto available memory locations. If occupied memory locations (indicated by a "1") are used, the existing radio key programmed on that location will no longer function."
"A successful adaptation can be determined by checking the measurement data block, specifically display group number 007."
* A total of only four keys can be programmed.
"The learning process must be completed within 30 seconds. If this time is exceeded, the process must be repeated."
Tschüss

Michael II

Thank you very much!

It was exactly right and took only 5 minutes.
VAG wanted to keep my car for a whole day.

@flaufer

Thank you for your reply as well, but my only goal was to learn how to use the FP (presumably referring to a specific function or feature).
I found a suitable transponder from one of my many ordinary...
Keys removed. I guess it's time for me to get a suitable diagnostic adapter too.
Roast for the A4 size.

Hi there!

I'm joining this very old thread; it concerns my summer car, a 1997 A4 Avant TDI. The batteries in the original remote key fob are dead, and I've already purchased new ones.

Okay, I'm having a problem now. When I bought the Audi, I only received one key. To program a new key to the central locking system, it's supposed to require one key in the ignition to be turned on while the other is inserted into the door lock, but that's not working because I don't have a second key.

Now my thought was to disconnect the plug from the ignition switch and connect an ignition starter switch there instead, and thus turn on the ignition; could that work icon_question.gif?
I was actually planning to set aside some money for a rainy day, and now would be a good time to do that.

Thank you.

Ruedi.

Hi Rudi! icon_wink.gif

Try this:
1.) Press the "open" button on the remote control.
2.) Immediately unlock and lock the driver's door using the key.

After that, the Facebook should work again.

Best regards from Munich!

Hi there!

Unfortunately, the "Diesel Bear" method didn't work, but it has been working on its own again for the past 3 days, and I have no idea why.

"Thank you anyway."
