Hi,
I'm constantly on the road with a trunk full of tools. It weighed so much that the car noticeably sagged, and the shocks were worn out after 100,000 kilometers.
Then, an off-road suspension system was installed in the rear. It features reinforced shock absorbers and longer springs. After that, the car looked slightly raised when empty, but when loaded, it looked the same as it did when empty.
If you want a stiffer suspension without sacrificing ground clearance, you should consider adjustable gas-pressure shock absorbers (like Koni or similar) and low-profile tires on alloy wheels (which reduce unsprung mass).
Regards,
Eike.
