Hey everyone!

"On my Quattro, as mentioned in my signature, the rear suspension spring has been broken for about 5 years. Specifically, the bottom 3-4 cm of the spring coil is bent, to put it mildly."
During the main inspection, it was never a problem because what is a laser pointer for cats is, for the inspector, a 4-link front suspension on an A4/A6/Passat, and so far, not even the most zealous TÜV inspector has noticed anything. icon_cool.gif

Okay, now HL's feathers are also aligned equally, and he is standing straight again on his hind legs icon_lol.gif.
While I couldn't detect any changes in driving dynamics or any noises, the likelihood of failing the next vehicle inspection increases by 100%. I really don't want to have to quickly fix something in the parking lot before the appointment in February, especially if it was something predictable.

According to the vehicle data sheet, the car is equipped with the sport suspension 1BE and the load rating 0YR (factory-installed trailer hitch, air conditioning, Avant model, etc.).
According to my research, the part number 8D9 511 115 E should be the correct spring, but I can't find any information about it online. Even the Spidan online catalog doesn't list it.
In my continued search for people with similar experiences or information about using other (stronger) feathers, I only come across threads filled with flashy content about coilover suspension systems and similar things, which personally doesn't help me much.

Since I have absolutely no knowledge of suspension technology, I'd like to cautiously ask if anyone knows of a good (!!) manufacturer or supplier where I could obtain these springs – preferably better or reinforced ones.
Alternatively, the rear could be 1-2 cm higher, which could already be achieved with intact springs.
If all else fails, it will be ordered from the original source, but I would rather invest in quality than in glass palaces, even if it means paying a higher price. icon_confused.gif

For any helpful suggestions, I offer my sincerest thanks in advance! icon_wink.gif

Best regards from Munich!

In that case, I would opt for something original.

"Aftermarket springs often don't have the correct characteristics, or they don't always look like the original ones. It would be a shame to mess up the tuning because of that."

When you say "sports suspension," I'm assuming you're referring to the S-line or S suspension.
I won't assess whether it's worth buying new parts for the vehicle, but since a spring breakage is relatively uncommon for this model, I would opt for used parts in this case.

I have sent you the relevant link via private message.

Hey Klaui! icon_wink.gif

I already replied to you via private message, and thank you for the link!
1BE is the sports suspension, and 1BV is the S-Line (as far as I know - no guarantee!!).
The color codes of the advertised pens do not match mine.
Here's the translation:

"Furthermore, I don't want any used parts in my Quattro! Even if I were to get the springs for free, I've already paid something at the moment when I'm allowed to take them out and put them back in again, just to then squeeze in a new spring anyway icon_wink.gif".

As Uncle AutoschrauBär already mentioned, I'm going to have to dig into the original collection.
I will let you know when I have the time and opportunity again. icon_smile.gif

Okay, I just checked the parts catalog (Repdoc) from Trost. For the A4, the only replacement springs available for the Quattro system are the standard ones, not the shorter factory sport springs... unfortunately, your only option is to buy new ones, which are expensive.

Important: order the upper and lower coil spring pads made of foam rubber, and make sure they are new... if they are available at all, they are usually more like powder than solid pieces.

Greetings.

Hello Ibiza! icon_wink.gif

Thanks for the tip. According to the documents (AKTE), there's no foam rubber inside, and if there is, it's only at the top (from what I remember). I would have exchanged it anyway.

...still haven't gotten around to it; I will report back if it's done or if there's anything else to complain about icon_cool.gif.

....will then be a continuously self-adjusting suspension system in terms of height icon_smile.gif..., but not reversible without external input!

Hey Matthias!

If a trailer is added to the back as an afterthought, then the height will be adjusted accordingly icon_cool.gif.

Hello everyone,

I'm going to add a note here about the strut mounts I'm looking for, since I'm trying to find replacements on the marketplace. Let me know if that's okay.

So, that's what they look like from the outside, the visible part.

Best regards, Daniel.
