Hi,
I would like to have a performance upgrade for my Ibiza via OBD tuning next month... In my last Alfa, the clutch lasted a whole 10,000 km after OBD tuning (but it had already done 90,000 km).
....now my question: Will a power increase to approximately 170 hp and approximately 410 Nm of torque (assuming the engine already has an effective output of 140-145 hp and 325-335 Nm of torque) ultimately be fatal for the clutch and the 6-speed gearbox?
...okay, it depends on the driving style, but I don't want to be stranded with a clutch problem or something in 2 years !!
.
.....has the ARL motor, which is more robust in design than the ASZ motor, actually a different gearbox/clutch too?
.
.....why I even bother doing this ??.....My Ibiza is actually really fast icon_wink.gif, but I unfortunately drove it with OBD tuning.....INSANE !! icon_eek.gif
.
.....My car will have approximately 10,000 km on it next month !!
Greetings
Monchi

Aslo, at least you should be able to answer the question about the gearbox yourself. That's exactly what's being posted everywhere in the forum, but I'm giving you the link again:

http://www.dieselschrauber.de/Getriebe_Main.html

So, if ASZ and ARL have the same gear ratio designation, then they also have the same gear ratio (aside from cooling, of course, but even the ASZ in the Golf had that).
It also makes sense since they have almost the same torque.

Let's be honest, the topic of tuning and its effects has already been discussed here in the forum 100 times, and some research on your part could really simplify things for you.
But even if we approach this objectively, leaving 40 more horsepower behind doesn't just affect the clutch.

...okay, I just wanted to know if anyone has had any negative (clutch/gearbox failure, engine failure, turbo failure) or positive experiences (130,000 km with a chip without problems), especially with the 130 PS TDI PD engine with a 6-speed gearbox !!
40 more horsepower
.....someone told me that they tested 10 different cars with a 130hp TDI engine on a dynamometer. allegedly, 8 out of 10 cars actually had 140-153hp in stock, I think there must be something to this variation in power !!
....the additional power should then be around 25-30 horsepower in effect!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Monchi!

I think 170 hp shouldn't be a problem. It's only "about" 25 hp more, which is about 17% of the power. I would just make sure that the torque increase isn't excessive, as the gearbox and clutch can be damaged by high torque.

So, have fun with the racing season icon_biggrin.gif

Gear cooling in the ASZ?
Did I miss something?

That's just the ARL's responsibility. Where should the air hose be connected to the small nozzle?
Please seek clarification!

and if the ASZ has a trailer coupling, then it has one... at least according to the factory!

Hello,

Gear cooling?
I haven't heard of this (in TDI) icon_eek.gif icon_exclaim.gif icon_question.gif

How does it work? Is it just a single jet stream that is specifically directed at the gearbox, or how else?

as far as I know, it's a gearbox oil cooler that is supplied with coolant via a channel. I think there are also a few of the 4Motion things.

@ulfViewing profile: ulf:

In the Golf IV, a channel runs from a hole in the front bumper through a side part of the engine bay and directly into the gearbox.

I wasn't familiar with the ASZ (so far). However, in the FILE, the 96 kW is listed with that specific channel. It seems to be specifically designed for wall mounting, as mine was not.

As I mentioned, the ASC (Automatic Stop Control) also works with the trailer hitch... perhaps only in conjunction with 4Motion. However, it should also be present in the V6 engine, as my V6 bumper also has the hole for the cooling channel. In that case, I had to intervene using the cooling channel, otherwise, a lot of water would have stood in the car in the rain.

No,

Regarding the V6, both outer openings are definitely sealed. That, with its manageable 270 Nm, is also quite agreeable to the gearbox icon_biggrin.gif.
The gearbox is only cooled by direct airflow in his case, for which the lip has an approximately 20-25 cm wide cutout at the bottom edge.

By the way, there used to be a standard version, a V6 (with both holes open), and a 110 kW TDI version. The latter had one hole on the driver's side open for gearbox cooling. Currently, only the standard and V6 versions are available. The 110 kW TDI version may "require opening with workshop tools". You would have been better off buying a V6 - like I icon_wink.gif.

Here you can see a production-level V6. The holes are for:
http://home.arcor.de/rgoebig/Golf%20IV/v6.jpg

And here is the lower cutout above the "mmu" letters, which is particularly unsightly when painted, especially with light-colored paints, in my opinion. To avoid confusion: The owner himself made these external holes.

Hello!

I had also considered retrofitting my 130PS ASZ engine with a {AIR COOLED} system.
I already have the spoiler lip with the openings.
Roger, should the list you posted be considered complete?
Do I only need to buy these parts, and then can I start building?

Or perhaps it will fail later because this plastic tub is different from the ones used in the golf models, where the cooling is standard?

An additional cooling system will definitely not harm the transmission. icon_wink.gif

Best regards...

Ok, then I want to improve: I bought a bumper lower with a hole in the driver's side opening, which probably belongs there and was not inserted afterwards. I looked for the number in AKTE and wrote it down for the V6 model. VW ordered it for me, and since the number on the package was the same as the one I ordered, there must be an error on my part. The purchase date was approximately one year ago...

@Jay_Dee:

No, unfortunately, the list is not complete; it should only show the air ducting. You will also need the corresponding side parts of the engine casing through which the hoses pass into the engine compartment. I am unfortunately unable to report on how feasible it is to cut these parts. However, it is also important to consider that the engine compartment will not necessarily become cleaner as a result.

With the numbers corresponding to the lips (G IV), I can assist you:

Normal: 1J0 805 903 B B41 - 43,44 €
V6 : 1J0 805 903 B41 - 43,44 €
TDI 110kW : 1J0 805 903 D B41 - 43,44 € (as far as I know, no longer available, if needed, take the V6 and "open with workshop tools")

I really can't remember the numbers... I should probably check them again. But anyway, the only part I've changed on the car is from the outside, and there won't be any more changes. Since my Xenon lights are on, I thought the underside of the bumper would fit perfectly!
Aber noch etwas, ein Freund von mir hat einen ARL 4 Motion und dieser hat die ganz normale Stoßstangenunterseite, genau wie ich hatte. Bedeutet das dann, dass diese für TDI`s nicht mehr existieren? Has he made any changes to the gearbox, because he no longer has a cooling channel either!

For the TDI 110kW, it is no longer available separately as a replacement . Therefore, you may need to adapt the V6 if necessary. That has nothing to do with the factory fitment.

Possibly an improper repair?
