Clutch Problems? Get Help Now!

Car: Volkswagen Golf 4, 1.9 TDI PD, approximately 34,000 km.

- Auto beschleunigt (subjektiv) im 1. und 2. As usual.
- 3. Gang: bei 1600 U/min Vollgasgeben: Wagen beschleunigt erst mässig, dann kommt der Turbo, Wagen geht besser und dann passiert es: Der Drehzahlmesser springt ca. 300-600 Umdrehungen hoch auf ca. 2300 U/min, der Motor heult dementsprechend auf, die Beschleunigung ist aber nur sehr schwach. Bleibt man jetzt auf dem Gas stehen, friert der Drehzahlmesser bei 2300 ein, bis der Wagen jene Geschwindigkeit erlangt, die 2300 Umdrehungen tatsächlich im 3. Gang entsprechen, dann bewegen sich Drehzahlmesser und Tachonadel wie gewohnt proportional weiter. So ähnlich verhält sich der Wagen im 4. und 5. The error is not always reproducible; that is, sometimes the car exhibits the problem during a trip, but then it behaves normally for the next few kilometers, etc.

I also took it to the workshop, but the problem didn't occur there.

What do you think about it?

According to other posts, it might be the clutch, but already after only 35,000 km?

Based on your description, the clutch is definitely slipping. Don't do that too often! How was it checked? Did you check to see if it's oily? There might be a leak from the gearbox or engine seals!

I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my Seat Leon TS TDI (with the ARL engine), and it has only 16,000 kilometers on it.
You can especially notice it in the 4th to 6th gears, where the engine speed increases somewhat more slowly anyway.

It seems to only occur at relatively low outdoor temperatures, such as between -5°C and 0°C.
I wanted to test it one more time before taking it to the workshop, but now it's working fine again without any problems.

I've heard from several people who have the same problem (e.g., on seat-leon.de), but so far, no one has found a solution. I think those people probably don't know what they're talking about if you read their comments.

It seems to be quite common across different engines...
Is the clutch always the same?
In the latter case, it appears that replacing the clutch fixed the problem.

I really can't believe that the clutch is worn out after only 16,000 kilometers!

Hello,

Check if the clutch master cylinder is sealed properly. In my case, hydraulic fluid was causing the clutch to slip.

I don't do that very often, actually almost never, because I usually accelerate gently. It happened by chance, and since then I've been avoiding it.
The test was performed with the handbrake engaged and, if I recall correctly, in second gear. During the test, the engine suddenly stalled -> the clutch appears to be okay.
