Since my new car has ESP, and I'm increasingly developing a phobia about this system, I'm asking here if it's possible to remove it, and what would be required to do so. Is it also possible to simply deactivate it?
Best regards, WarLord.

There's a button there so you can turn it off! B.Eng (FH) u. KFZ Meister

Sure, but you have to keep pressing it repeatedly. Also, apparently, the ESP still intervenes in emergency situations, according to what I've read. So, I want to exclude the 'junk' hardware. The rest should remain untouched (except for the side effects of ASR and EDS, which I would gladly do without).
Best regards, WarLord.

I would be happy if I had ASR and ESD.
others want to get rid of it.
I would like to exchange our two ABS aggregates, but it is probably not possible. B.Eng (FH) u. KFZ Meister

Well, it's because I don't find the ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) very appealing, and I don't really need the EDS (Electronic Differential Lock) either. I managed perfectly well with my old Passat 35i without it, and I even drove my Golf with summer tires with the ESP (and therefore the ASR) turned off. Just have a gentle touch on the accelerator.
Best regards, WarLord.

I would also be happy if I had ASR.
20 Nm can be frustrating when there's 20 cm of fresh snow and the road maintenance crew seems to be observing Lent.
Just spinning around, that old tractor...
To what extent are these electronic aids actually part of the approval process (ABE)?
Is it permissible to simply remove ABS (permanently and potentially through hardware modifications) if it was a standard feature on that model?

I've also wondered about that. I hope it won't be a problem. I just don't want to have the ESP. But, you were able to deactivate the ABS, and it's not even listed in the vehicle registration document. Ulf was also able to deactivate the ESP in his Polo, which comes with ESP as standard.
By the way: Are you sure you have winter tires on? I didn't have any problems with wheel spin with my Passat, but unfortunately, I totaled it.
Best regards, WarLord.

Sure, I have WR tires - they were even the winners of tests two years ago.
"On my G2 diesel engines, I always used Conti tires - both summer and winter tires - and I was very satisfied with them."
"On my TDI, I'm using Uni MS plus 5 or something like that in the winter, and it's absolutely terrible."
"A little bit of moisture is enough, and the transmission will start to slip in 2nd gear during normal acceleration (meaning, if you press the accelerator to go from 1000 RPM and the turbo kicks in -> it starts to slip)."
Regarding your ESP: You're right, the Ulf-ESP withdrawal campaign actually shows that it must somehow be possible. The question is, are *you* allowed to do that retroactively?

Okay, so Warlord is definitely allowed to do that. He could even install a speed limiter without the required technical inspection approval. I have a Golf without ESP, but it does have ASR and EDS. I think the cost of replacing it would be high, because the ASR is linked to the ABS, and in vehicles with ESP, the three systems (ABS, ESP, ASR) are probably integrated into a single unit. I would just accept it and not try to remove it.
