Hello everyone,
I need your help. I have a V6 TDI (with AKN engine and 127,000 km) and it produces black smoke under full load in the lower RPM range.
Normally, I drive the car with a Pbox, which is already reduced due to the Russian influence. But even then, it still smoked. Because more and more people are pointing this out, it seems to be getting worse. Today, I removed the box, and it got better. But some Russian influence still remains.
- Air mass sensor is new
- Loading pressure is okay (even with LDA)
- Injection start is also within tolerance.
- Crankcase ventilation is okay
The search function then guided me towards the exhaust area, but unfortunately, almost all items related to exhaust tuning are available there. In one thread, someone mentioned a 'pungent' exhaust smell. I can smell that exact same odor.
Now I have no experience at all regarding how serious the failure of cylinder 5 is, could you imagine that this nozzle has a problem at 127,000 km?
What should I do? Swap the nozzle or get it tested?
What is the nozzle actually number 5?
Block 13
1. Difference in volume Cylinder 2 to 3 in mg/H -2.0...+2.0 -0.9
2. Difference in flow rate Cylinder 1 to 2 in mg/H -2.0...+2.0 -0.9
Block14
1. Difference in volume Cylinder 6 to 2 in mg/H -2.0...+2.0 -0.9
2. Difference in flow rate Cylinder 4 to 2 in mg/H -2.0...+2.0 -1.1
3. Difference in volume Cylinder 5 to 2 in mg/H -2.0...+2.0 -3.0
Thank you very much in advance.

Hello Rainer,
Before you start messing with the nozzles, I would first look for potential issues such as a clogged AGR valve and/or blocked intake passages.
1. LMM values at idle, immediately after the engine starts.
2. Perform the same measurement with the AGR hose disconnected.
The LLM values should then differ by approximately 200. If this is not the case, it is very likely that the AGR valve is completely blocked. Or the control of this non-I.O. |

Hello Marco,
Thank you for your help. I had forgotten to write that the AGR is sealed with a plate. And the boost pressure was increased by 0.1 bar through sensor manipulation.
But the bubbling usually starts almost before the pressure has fully built up.
Tonight, on the way home, I really took a good look in the rearview mirror. I have to say, it's not comparable to yesterday with the PBox. I also had a Speedbuster module installed as a test, but that didn't work either. The performance improvement is very noticeable every time.
Only why does the box immediately start to smoke as soon as the amount of diesel is slightly increased? Are there not thousands of people driving around with such a module?
Therefore, my theory fit very well, that it was only caused by one nozzle.
Greetings, Rainer |

Hello Rainer,
Now I'm wondering if the car with the tuning box has ever run without rust clouds. You say that the car doesn't rust without the box. Furthermore, it would be interesting to know which measurement parameters the device uses to manipulate the injection volume, and where the device is connected. |

Hello Marco,
Without the box, it's quite weak. But the performance could definitely be better. Pbox is connected to the pump via the CAN line.
Does anyone know if there's a discrepancy with my 5th? Zylinder can cause problems?
I'm probably going to buy a nozzle on eBay and just try it out.
Only how the numbering sequence works for a V6?
Thank you so far.

Hi
Are you sure about the values in the "Idle Speed Regulation" label?

Block 13

2. Difference in volume Cylinder 1 to 2 in mg/H -2.0...+2.0 -0.9

1. Difference in flow rate Cylinder 6 to 2 in mg/H -2.0...+2.0 -0.9
2. Difference in flow rate Cylinder 4 to 2 in mg/H -2.0...+2.0 -1.1
3. Difference in volume Cylinder 5 to 2 in mg/H -2.0..+2.0 -3.0 |
The first line "2 to 3" is irritating because all other "to2" measurements are being made.
Nevertheless, the -3.0 value for cylinder 5 is quite significant. Something seems to be wrong with this.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to count V6.

Hello Martin,
I obtained the labeling information from the sales data.
http://www.dieselschrauber.de/Solldaten_Main.html
But it's comparing it to Cylinder 2. I'm also unclear why it wasn't written as 3 to 2. Thank you for the link with the count.
Greetings
