Hello,

because my car smokes like a burning oil well as soon as I accelerate even a little, and I also feel a lack of power, I drove onto the highway to see how much the car could actually do (I find it difficult to diagnose a lack of power solely based on acceleration, as you quickly get used to the missing horsepower). The result of my high-speed test icon_lol.gif was an astonishing 190 km/h, and that was downhill and with a lot of momentum.

Can we now assume that the problem is not related to the EGR valve, since it doesn't regulate at full throttle anyway?

Best regards from a frustrated person.

Thomas.

P.S. By the way, the car is not modified, so it has the standard 103 kW.

Hi,

When the engine is under full load, the EGR valve must be fully closed. Perhaps the problem lies there. I think it's worth trying to disable the valve.

Hi!

Black smoke indicates that there isn't enough air for proper combustion in the engine. The mass airflow sensor (MAF) would normally detect this and reduce the fuel injection. It's likely there's a leak somewhere between the turbocharger and the engine, where air is being blown out. The MAF sensor detects the normal amount of air, but it's not reaching the engine because some of it is escaping.
The leak should be oily. Please check all connections and the low-level coolant.
How did the defect occur, suddenly or gradually?
You can find more information in the error database or using the search function here.

Best regards,
Uwe.

The car has always had a bit of smoke, but it's definitely gotten worse now, and the loss of power is also much more noticeable. In the past (it sounds worse than it is: I've only had the car since the beginning of December 2002), the car, in my opinion, had significantly better acceleration and easily reached speeds over 200 km/h. Partly, this is certainly due to the summer tires I installed last weekend (winter tires: 195/65/15; summer tires: 235/45/17).

I also temporarily disconnected the hose from the EGR valve and sucked on it strongly: I couldn't hear any clicking from the EGR valve, so it's possible that it's completely blocked and can no longer regulate anything at all, and that disabling it won't help either. Could this be the cause (besides the possible leak between the turbo and the engine)?

Regards,

Thomas.

Hi Thomas,

Yes.

If you "break" the AGR (Abgasrückführung) by installing a blocking plate in the connection between the exhaust and the intake manifold, it will naturally be sealed, regardless of whether the valve is stuck open or not. icon_idea.gif

Thgrandmothers

Okay, I guess I'll probably get a big syringe. I know that the EGR valve can be completely disabled by using a metal plate, but I just wanted to try the simplest option first.

"On which hose should I simulate the vacuum pressure, as there are several options (I just want to make sure I'm using the correct one)."

Regards,

Thomas.

PS: Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Disconnect the hose from the solenoid valve (located on the injection nozzle). The other end is connected to the EGR valve, which is located in the intake manifold. Apply strong suction to it.

Uwe.
