Hello.
Recently, while buying tires...
...I was persuaded by the salesperson's overwhelming arguments in favor of it to get a gas refill .
Based on his description of the properties, I assumed it was something like xenon atoms or an expensive, high-tech industrial gas with large molecules (which would at least justify the price).
But, I'm looking at , nitrogen. Just plain, cheap stuff that surrounds me 70% of the time.
Nitrogen.
After refilling the air at most three times, assuming it's not volatile as promised, there would only be 'noble gas' left in the tire.
I feel like I'm being taken for a fool!
I hope I'm right to feel this way. I would appreciate feedback from knowledgeable forum members who can either support my concerns or offer a more balanced perspective.
Best regards,
Tobi.

Hello,
IMO, this is clearly a rip-off. The nitrogen filling is supposedly intended to prevent pressure loss.
to be minimized. Based on my experience, these issues persist as long as the tires, rims, and...
Valves are usually in good condition, but that's the minimum requirement. In my over 30 years of experience...
It's rare to find a car with a full spare tire. Regularly checking your tire pressure is also important.
Nitrogen filling is essential, and it's also cheaper than these!

Tire pressure checks are mandatory - for example, on an Airbus, they must be performed every 72 hours!

I always check the pressure whenever there's a significant temperature change.
Since I often cut corners and rush things, even a small amount too much or too little can be noticeable.
Absolutely awesome on the motorcycle...
I think pure N2 is nonsense... if the tire is okay, very little air will leak out. And I'm not going to let some wannabe chemist tell me that I never have to check the pressure again .

It's not worth it. Tire pressure still needs to be checked regularly. And... why pay for something that is freely available at every gas station?

A small amount of pure nitrogen already makes a difference...
... but only to the dealer!! MfG faz

Hi everyone,
Based on my own experience, I can say that filling with gas really makes a difference!
Or do you want to fill it with water?
Duck and cover.
As I mentioned before: Air contains 78% nitrogen. The remaining molecules are larger than nitrogen. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to me why a nitrogen filling could have any advantages at all. Even if I drive a tire hot: It won't get so hot that it burns. If the brakes are so hot that a tire ignites, the tire doesn't ignite because of the oxygen *in* the tire, but because of the oxygen surrounding the tire.
Regards,

The only physically justifiable advantage of pure N2 would be a slightly better gas constant, but the difference between the gas constant of air and N2 is in the low single-digit percentage range (I'd have to look up the exact value), so it can safely be ignored.
I always follow this motto: If it's free, why not; otherwise, just leave it be .
Apart from that, the supposedly very pure N2 fillings are also not 100%. After refilling two or three times at the gas station, even with air, there is a significantly higher proportion of N2 in the tire, if you believe the advertising argument about diffusion (oxygen molecules (O2) aren't that small after all...) and think about it logically .
