VW 1.6 D Turbo: Upgrade for CS Engine

Hello everyone,

How many kilometers can a VW Bus engine with the 1.6 D designation (engine code CS) last if you install a turbocharger from a 1.6 TD engine?

Background: My 1.6 Td engine failed. I now have a CS (presumably a replacement engine or car) and would like to use the entire intake and exhaust system from the old engine.

Can someone provide a rough estimate, or tell me why this shouldn't work?

Here's the translation:

'By the way, does the fuel injection pump from the TD model also fit the CS model?'

The JX engine is already heavily stressed -> These engines don't last long because they tend to overheat.

If you now equip a CS block with JX injectors and run it with boost pressure and enrichment, it will likely fail even sooner.

Here are just a few differences:
- Does the CS engine have piston bottoms cooled by oil injection?
- Does the CS unit have an oil-water heat exchanger?
- The CS (presumably a specific model or system) definitely does NOT have the coolant circulation pump!

Technically, the conversion should be possible, but if you want to actually DRIVE the bus, and not just use it as a space for your tinkering and modifications, it's probably best to leave it alone.

The CS model doesn't have a piston cooling system, so it's best to leave it stock. The 1.7L (KY) engine does have this feature, and some people have modified it successfully.
