Hello everyone.

Do you know where the coolant temperature sensor is located on the AFB (Airborne Forward Base)?

How does the engine control unit measure this temperature?

Sincerely,

Sepp.

Hello, remove the upper engine cover. The sensor is located at the front, slightly to the left of center. It has 4 pins and is blue or bluish-green. It supplies power to the engine control unit and the temperature gauge in the instrument cluster. Hella part numbers for replacement parts: up to model year X (1999): 6PT 009 107 541, from model year 2000 (Y): 6PT 009 107 141. Prices: approximately 20 Euros. (A picture of the engine compartment with the installed sensors and actuators is available if needed).

Hello.

Are these two separate sensors or just one sensor housed within a unit for the control module and display?

Sincerely,

Sepp.

Hello again,
for both parameters in a sensor with 4 pins.

It's really important right now because everything is being taken apart.

Which cable carries the signal to the control unit for the 4-pin coolant temperature sensor?

I don't want to disconnect the short cables just in case.

(Implementation of a workaround for the ULF warm start issue.)

Best regards.
Peter.

What kind of vehicle and engine are we talking about? Otherwise, you might try to rip me off icon_twisted.gif.
If the car has already been driven a long way and the starter motor is in very poor condition (stage 3 of deterioration), then replace it; that's likely the cause of the problem, and once you do that, the issue will be resolved.

which vehicle and which engine
This is a 1.9 TDI AFN engine from 1998 in a Seat Ibiza 6K.

On the 4-pin coolant temperature sensor.
There were two blue wires, one yellow wire, and one brown wire.
The brown substance was located near the coolant on the metal sheet.

Cause of the problem
The warm-start problem cannot be solved so easily.

that after replacing the battery, starting the engine...
once it has been properly restored to a working condition after being exposed to heat.
However, that wasn't the case for me. The starter motor is brand new.
The battery is pretty much dead (only 300 rpm at startup).
However, the problem has hardly changed since I was two years old.
I haven't had a new battery in years, just like...

If you disconnect the coolant temperature sensor, it will be...

Meaningfulness of the AFN STG software in relation to warm start functionality.
I will now implement the concept that Ulf has been developing.

Okay, can someone tell me which cable comes from the 4-pin connector?
Does the KüTempSensor provide a signal to the control unit (ECU)?

Thanks, best regards.
Peter.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

If the cables weren't so incredibly short at this point...
I wouldn't post it here, but rather disconnect it based on suspicion.[/b]

Connect the signal wire from the temperature sensor to pin 3 on the connector that connects to the control unit. Pin 3 is the lower left pin when the two adjacent protrusions on the connector are facing upwards. I don't know the color of the wire. I can rule out brown and yellow-brown.
