Hi,

After a week of abstinence, I finally installed my newly chrome-plated seat tube yesterday, and immediately realized that I still have some work to do.
"The engine has been starting in a completely unusual way; it only starts after a prolonged cranking, especially if it has been sitting for a while. This has been foreshadowed recently by the engine not starting immediately and even stalling once or twice right after starting. Yesterday, after a week of inactivity, it cranked for a long time, and this morning it did the same. When it does start, it does so very reluctantly, as if it's not getting any fuel."
Also, recently (around the same time), he's also noticed a brief "squealing" sound during rapid acceleration. It sounds somewhat metallic and only occurs under load, so it can't be checked while the car is stationary.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. I'm definitely going to start troubleshooting tonight with my laptop, etc.

Greetings.

Hi there.

The T3 is the perfect car for problems that only occur under load.

How many times do you think I've ridden with ear protection on, sitting right behind the open engine cover, just to take a look at the POEL conversion on the JX?

So, find a pilot who can provoke the noise and hang off the engine icon_twisted.gif.

The starting problem sounds like there might be leaks in the fuel lines - can you be sure that it's not drawing air in somewhere??? icon_arrow.gif check-it!

... there was another T.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

No, I've also thought that. First, there's a visual inspection. Then the rest. And as a grand finale, maybe even a ride on the pump. icon_lol.gif

Hi,

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to solve my problem yet.
I have observed the following:
1. Apparently, there is no air in the diesel line.
2. No signs of a loose rear wheel nut were detected; the screw has always been new and has never been removed. Lateral runout of the vibration damper is less than 0.5mm.
3. After approximately 8 hours, the engine starts only with the help of the starter motor, and then briefly produces white smoke.
4. Driving behavior and starting performance are normal when the engine is warm.

Measurement data, block 000: Basic settings.
Feld 2: 255 !! Field 9: 120
Last measurement taken on 05/04/2016:
Field 2: 28 Field 9: 127

Measurement without NBF (Basic functions are not available in normal mode).
Field 2: 38 Field 9: 120

Block 4: Normal operation.
861 RPM, Target: 1.3° v. OT, Actual: 0.9-1.7° v. OT, 70-74%.

According to an older measurement, under the same conditions, the duty cycle was approximately 56%.
Error memory is empty.

If I understand everything correctly, the injection timing in the basic setting is extremely early. However, if the crankshaft pulley has rotated, it can only result in a change in the direction of "late," so that rules it out, right?

Regarding the engine: The AFN engine's mileage is unknown, but it's at least 120,000 km. I bought the engine supposedly with 30,000 km, and I've been driving it in the van for 90,000 km since then.

I will probably have to take more measurements tonight. Which search direction would you suggest? Or is it already clear, and I'm just not seeing it?

Thank you and best regards.
