Hello,

Last week I posted about the problem I'm having with my TDI, which is occasional power loss. Now, here's a more detailed description of the issue after some tests.

The problem only occurs between 1000 and 3000 RPM. And it only happens when I maintain that speed for longer than 5 seconds, or when I slow down with the accelerator pedal slightly pressed. In those situations, the acceleration is like being below the turbo threshold. However, if I let the engine speed drop below 1000 RPM and then accelerate again, I get full power. But if I'm already above 3000 RPM and maintain that speed, the power remains consistent.

What could that be? The error memory says:
00560 017

Bitte gib mir den deutschen Text, den du übersetzt haben möchtest.

Exhaust gas recirculation system.
Rule difference.
intermittent error
occasional error
sporadic error

During the EGR valve test, we found that the vacuum actuator is no longer holding a vacuum. Even when continuously operating the vacuum pump, the value does not rise above 200 mbar. And I believe it should be around 600 mbar.
What do the experts in this forum say about this issue? Is it certain that the problem will be resolved after replacing the EGR valve?

Thank you, Christian.

Hi there,

'Silly question, but why don't you just completely shut off the valve once to see how the engine reacts? Mine has been running for a month without it.'
I am completely satisfied... icon_mrgreen.gif

Best regards, Wolf.

Hello, I have already deactivated this component before, but the error persists. This is the problem I'm encountering. I can't understand how the EGR valve could be related to this specific error code. Unfortunately, it's the only clue I have at the moment.

So you're saying that it can't possibly be related?

What is the function of this EGR valve? If it doesn't open, where does the exhaust pressure go? It can't just bypass the turbo, right?
Could it be that the solenoid valve for the wastegate is no longer functioning correctly, and yet there's still no error message? I'm at a loss as to what else could be happening.

Chris.
