Hi.

The search results only indicate that new hydraulic fluids should be left undisturbed for 30 minutes before the engine can be started.

Can you pre-fill them – like, storing them "upside down" – when you're replacing old ones?

Or is that unnecessary?

Thank you.

Normally, if the hydropneumatic suspension is empty, you don't need to do anything.

Install and start it, and once the oil pressure is established, the clicking sound should stop after a few seconds.

Whenever I have a spare head, I replace the old, working hydraulic pumps. I press them together with two fingers to check their condition, install them, and start the system. As I mentioned before, the clicking sound stops after a few seconds.

Install and start it, and when the oil pressure is present, the clicking sound will also stop after a few seconds .

However, to be on the safe side, please allow 30 minutes.

'Bent valves are definitely not desirable, are they?'

It doesn't matter how much time has passed; letting it set doesn't have anything to do with time. The oil only comes out when the hydropneumatic cylinders are under pressure. Therefore, install it and let it set for 30 minutes. Or, remember where the hydropneumatic cylinders were installed previously icon_lol.gif.

Sometimes, with my Golf, it would take a very long time for the headlights to come on fully.

Best regards, Manuel.

"Previously," the hydros were installed in the box.

I'm interested in new things.

That has nothing to do with time. The oil only comes out when the hydropneumatic cylinders are under pressure. Therefore, install it and let it sit for 30 minutes. Or, remember where the hydropneumatic cylinders were installed previously. icon_wink.gif

If not with time, then with what? Doesn't it take time to do something?
}

Here's what the original literature says about that:

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'Note:'

After installing new valve lifters, the engine should not be started for approximately 30 minutes. The hydraulic balance components need to settle (otherwise, the valves may rest on the pistons).

If you stick to it, nothing should really go wrong.
It has worked perfectly for me many times.

Of course, the lifter only presses against the hydraulic lifter once the lifter is installed, and this lifter then empties itself within a certain time (depending on its condition).
A newly filled hydro tank will likely not drain completely if it is positioned unfavorably when removed.

@Dieselmartin

Simply lubricate it properly, install it, and then let it run in idle. As I mentioned, with my Golf 2, I sometimes had to drive 5km before it started running quietly again. But with new parts, it should be much faster.

I said that you can express the hydrangeas until you can squeeze them together with two fingers.
Then there will be no more oil inside, and you can start the engine immediately after installation. It takes a few seconds for the clicking sound to stop (if the hydraulic system is working properly).
