Good morning, everyone...

I'd like to ask if anyone in this community has ever installed a Webasto auxiliary heater (standby heater) in an Audi A3 (8L) 1.9TDI PD 131PS with Climatronic, or had one installed.

I bought a used A3, but the auxiliary heating system isn't working properly.
The previous owner had a Webasto DW50 installed. I've already read on this forum that the DW50 is not good due to its high return temperature, etc.

I want to completely rewire the auxiliary heater because the water circuit connection was also installed incorrectly... (wrong circulation direction!).

My questions:
How did you install your turbocharger cooler (intercooler) in your A3 8L? Where did you connect it to the cooling system? [Optional: Include pictures]
Does anyone else besides me have a DW50 installed in a PD?
Does it work smoothly when integrated into the return flow?

best regards

How do you mean that about the incorrect flow direction?

Hello,

I have an Octavia with a VP 37 and an Eberspächer D4WSC (see signature). The auxiliary heater is mounted at the front on the left side, behind the bumper. It is integrated into the water circuit between the cylinder head (suction side of the heater) and the heat exchanger (pressure side of the heater).

Circulation direction? Let's start at the heat source and end there as well: auxiliary heater, heat exchanger, engine block, auxiliary heater.

I can't think of any plausible reason why it would be different for other vehicles based on the Golf IV platform or for Webasto products.

I hope this helps you. icon_rolleyes.gif
