Hi!
What is a realistic mileage, based on your experience, that an A6 2.5 TDI quattro 180PS TT5 "AKE" can be expected to reach without major problems?
I actually bought one with 220,000 km on it. The timing belt was changed at 210,000 km, and the turbo is still in good condition. I also had a pre-purchase inspection done, and according to that, everything is fine.
However, when I started it in a cold state, I heard a slight thumping sound coming from the air intake, which sounds like a misfire in one of the cylinders.
Could this be something concerning, or has anyone else had generally negative experiences with this engine?
PS: By the way, how long do automatic transmissions typically last?
Please provide a text in German that you would like me to translate into English. I will provide the translation without any explanations.
Best regards,

Hello,
It's about the same as with other TDI models, so it's difficult to give a specific mileage. However, please check if your AKE falls under this category.

That would be the only serious problem I'm aware of with the older V6 TDI engines.

Yep! It's hard to give a general answer to that.
When browsing mobile listings, you often find vehicles with 80,000 miles that have a replacement engine.
but also 300,000 with the first engine.
It seems to me that this engine generation is very sensitive to...
"The engine reacts to full throttle immediately after a cold start. Most of the "show-offs" who can afford to buy these cars new believe that these engines are designed for full throttle, regardless of whether they are warm or cold."
Therefore, during a test drive, one should pay attention to how the previous owner treated the vehicle.
The "purchase test" is also not a mistake.

Hello,
It can't be that bad, right? Try driving a V6 TDI with an automatic transmission below freezing temperatures, keeping the RPMs below 2000. If you have to drive uphill immediately after starting, the transmission won't have full engagement for the first 800 meters or so, and you'll have to rev the engine to almost 3000 RPM just to get a little bit of forward movement. Even the Tiptronic won't help in that situation.
If it were that extremely harmful, someone would have certainly prevented it.
I think, however, that the AKE is a fairly durable engine.
Best, Manuel.

Hello,
Why shouldn't the transmission have a positive engagement?
Is the torque converter slipping (due to a lack of ATF)?
Best regards,
Günther.

I can't understand the meaning either.
Perhaps this is to bring the ATF to a required operating temperature.
'This definitely isn't just happening to me. Afterwards, it works perfectly fine. The error database also states that if the coolant sensor is defective, this issue can occur even when the engine is warm, so it's reasonable to assume that this is how it's SUPPOSED to be when the engine is very cold. The tachometer usually stays at around 2100 RPM during normal driving.'
Best, Manuel.

Hi!
@ Manuel V!!!
You are right about that!
Try driving a V6 TDI with an automatic transmission below 0 degrees Celsius and keeping the engine speed below 2000 RPM.
But the TT5 also shifts... depending on how much torque is available!
After the chip tuning, my car shifts to the next gear at just 1600 RPM.
'He can also climb mountains, even though he's never shifted into fourth gear before! Now he's driving with the fourth gear engaged and 1200 RPM without wanting to shift back down!'
Durability????
I can only share my experience! Everything is still original! With 225,000 km on the odometer! Except for wear and tear parts, of course!
Spark plugs were replaced at 190,000 km. 5 were faulty.
Oil consumption!! 0W-30, barely measurable!!!
KGE is still number one!
It's starting a bit reluctantly right now! It's like the fuel pressure is dropping in the pump!
It runs perfectly fine immediately after starting.
I can't think of anything else right now...
Bee!!!
