Hello colleagues,
'Perhaps one of you has already researched this. Is it possible to fit a wheel with the designation 6.5 x 15 H2 ET49 on a Passat Variant, manufactured in 1999, with a 1.9 TDI PD engine and 115 hp? Even if this size is not listed in the vehicle registration document, there might be an approval or similar for it!?'
Best regards, Stephan.

A colleague of mine did something similar with his bus:

I asked the TÜV what they would include in the inspection report.

The TÜV inspector then gave him various sizes and reasons why a larger size wasn't possible (due to speedometer deviation).

Then my colleague ordered the tires, had them installed, and registered them - all done.

Certainly, not every TÜV visit is a pleasant experience, but it would be worth a try.

Hello!
Basically, you can only drive what is listed in the vehicle registration document. The width and offset (ET) must also match. If the rim is not listed in the registration document, you will initially need to visit the TÜV (German technical inspection agency). However, it will only be cheap if a TÜV inspection report for that rim and the specific car exists. If not, it will be expensive (individual inspection), and a strength test report will still be required. Personally, I would only install what is intended for that vehicle.

Greetings.

hello

Fitting different wheel and tire sizes is not a problem.
As mentioned before, the conversation with the TÜV inspector is crucial for a successful registration.
You only need a rim that has the required load capacity; this is often indicated on the rim itself. If not, there's usually a manufacturer's certificate specifying the bolt pattern and hub bore. If they don't match, adapters are available for almost everything. The next thing is to ensure sufficient clearance for suspension travel and steering. Regarding speedometer calibration, which may be necessary, this is also easily handled by any reputable Bosch service center.
Another advantage would be if you could get a copy of the registration documents from someone who has already had these rims registered.

Assuming that the load capacity of your new rims is sufficient, and that the bolt pattern and hub bore are compatible icon_biggrin.gif, then there should normally be no problem with your desired rims, as they are only half an inch wider and the offset is 4mm lower.

In case the load capacity of your rims is not sufficient, there's also the option of getting them certified for a higher load. This is a popular option among T4 owners when it comes to alloy wheels.

'Personally, I'm currently using 215/70 R16 tires instead of the 205/65 R15 tires, and the registration process wasn't a problem.'

VW Passat 1.9 TDI; 3B; manufactured between 10.96 and 05.99; 85 kW; ABE/EGBE number E1*95/54*0043.

Only steel rims, 6Jx15; 5x112.0 x 57.0; offset 45.0 are permitted (tires 195/65 R15 91 H).
Serienmäßiges Stahlrad entspr. FVehicle approval code (see above).

Other alloy wheels or steel rims with the corresponding approval (ABE/TG) are possible, otherwise only §21 approval is allowed.
There are only 3 possibilities.
Is the vehicle okay?

Hello,
"In the winter, I use A6 wheels, part number 8d0601025fz17, size 15x6, offset 45. They are fitted with 195/65-15 tires that are approved for the 3BG model, with a power output of 74 kW, and they have the same offset as a VW steel wheel. I have a load capacity certificate from Audi, and the bolt pattern is also identical."
So, it's "just" a wheel that was originally installed on an Audi instead of a VW.
I read that nowadays, you need more than just a load-bearing capacity certificate for the TÜV inspection.
Will I be able to register the wheel (with the load capacity certificate entered)?

If the "external" and "internal geometry" (minimum clearances to the brake caliper, etc., for larger brake discs) match, and the axle loads of the Audi are greater than or equal to the values used in the current calculations (strength assessment), there is no reason why the rims should not be approved (individual inspection according to §19(2)). It depends on the inspector (officially recognized expert, AAS) and their discretion. A testing engineer (PI), such as those certified by GTÜ or Küß, etc., may not approve them. I am not aware of any formal legal reasons why they would not be allowed.

Okay, cetane, thank you.
The load capacity is sufficient to lift the car onto two wheels. This means that TÜV (German technical inspection authority) or Dekra (another technical inspection company) will perform this. Approximately how much does this cost? Are the online-listed costs of around 35-50 EUR accurate?

It's not enough for the load capacity to be cast or stamped into the rim.

A certificate of origin from the manufacturer must be provided.
Then it's not a problem.

However, only the TÜV (German technical inspection authority) can make the registration.

Hello,
Yes, I received a letter directly from Audi.
The cost of a vehicle inspection for the chassis is likely to be at least 65 EUR, which I just found out online.

It is billed based on the time spent, so the cost is uncertain.

The colleagues at TÜV and Dekra have access to more extensive databases (e.g., the KBA archive for wheels/tire catalogs). This means that if a rim can be unambiguously identified (e.g., where and when it was installed, markings), it is no problem to retrieve the corresponding data. The cost of registration depends on the mood of the authorized testing station (AAS).
