Hello!
I would like to install an oil temperature sensor in a friend's 1998 AFN Passat with air conditioning, at the oil filter flange housing there is a blind plug, where the sensor can fit. However, is it possible to display the oil temperature in the MFA (Multi-Function Display)? I was thinking of replacing the outside temperature display with the oil temperature, and since the air conditioning also displays the outside temperature anyway, it would be a good solution. Is there a possibility to reattach it? NA,Gehörlose wie ich können auch Schrauben! Ihr HÖRT ich FÜHLE! ... I think that if both donors have the same characteristics, i.e., the same resistance, it should work - however, it is questionable whether Temp > 50 is considered implausible and perhaps not displayed. |

Due to the plateau function of the display, the result will hardly be usable... Gruß

Hi,
He wants the outside temperature display, not the water temperature. So, there isn't a plateau function... but I have my doubts about whether the outdoor temperature display will reach 130 degrees or so.
Best regards,

Okay, I missed it.
But also, keep in mind that the outdoor temperature won't rise as high. Gruß

Okay, I've tested it: I warmed up the outdoor temperature sensor with a hairdryer for 30 minutes, and the result is that the temperature only shows slightly more than 21°C. I suspected that there must be another sensor, so I removed the pollen filter, but there's no sensor there! Is there a wiring diagram showing how to add an oil temperature sensor retroactively? On some Passats, the oil temperature is displayed in the MFA. Can the MFA be unlocked? A schematic diagram would be very helpful! NA,Gehörlose wie ich können auch Schrauben! Ihr HÖRT ich FÜHLE!
