Hi everyone.

I'm almost finished with my conversion project. As you may recall, I asked for advice a few weeks ago (regarding AFN or pump-injector technology).
Thank you for the tips, but I ultimately decided to go with the Afn.
Everything was fine except for the clutch.

Here's my problem!

Can anyone tell me exactly which hose from the turbocharger control system connects to where? I've heard that it's different than on the 1Z engine.
Sure, I understand. Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will do my best to provide an accurate translation as quickly as possible.

'I also need some advice about the immobilizer system. I have an engine from a '99 Sharan. Does it have one? And if so, what should I do?'

I am grateful for any small tip you can offer!

Best regards,
The Golfman.

Hi!
You can assume that the Sharan's electronics have a Write Flash Software (WFS).
If your G3 didn't already have it, you have a problem icon_exclaim.gif (and the rifle is definitely an MSA12).
If that's the case, only the engine control unit (ECU) and wastegate actuator (WGA) need to be adjusted to each other (if needed, I can find out how).
I'm (unfortunately) fairly certain that there was no AFN with an MSA12 microcontroller, which means you won't be able to use other (series) EEPROMs in your old ECU either.
In this case, it would probably be easiest to install a WFS control unit.

'Pneumatic connection:' or 'Hose connection:'
From the can, it goes to the valve (which is still like a 1Z), and from there, it connects to the vacuum system (brake booster, etc.). Unfortunately, since I don't have an AFN engine, I can't tell you which hose is which color.

Thank you for the tips, Rudi.

I believe my 1Z had an immobilizer.
So, if I understand correctly, I would now need to adjust the key.
Who can do that?
What if I didn't have one? I don't quite understand that.
Are there any chips available without an immobilizer?

Regarding the hoses again: Where does the control unit measure the boost pressure?
And who knows exactly where each hose for the turbocharger pressure regulation is supposed to go?

Something else!

How can I tell if my Volkswagen Golf has an immobilizer? I'm not sure anymore whether it actually has one installed.

Hi,
No matter what, but you'll need a VAG tester or VAG-COM device.
This allows for the adjustments to be made, and it can also be used to determine whether the Golf has a WFS (Windshield Washer Fluid System).
I once wrote a guide on how to replace an ECU (Engine Control Unit), but the part about coding only applies to the MSA15.

Replacing the engine control unit (ECU).
'Der schnelle braune Fuchs springt über den faulen Hund.'

After installing a new engine control unit...
The following work steps must be carried out:
1. Perform the coding of the new engine control unit (MSA15).
Adjust the anti-theft system to the engine control unit.
3. For vehicles equipped with a speed control system (recognizable by the switch on the steering column), this must be activated in the engine control unit.
4. If necessary, check and clear the error memory.

Perform coding of the new engine control unit (ECU) (MSA15).
- Connect the VAG tester, either model 1551 or 1552.
- Ignition key in position 2 (but do not start the engine).
- Input 01 (motor control)
- Input 07 (Code the control unit)
- Input: 00001 (automatic transmission) or 00002 (manual transmission).
Adjust the drive-away protection system to the engine control unit.
- Connect the VAG tester, either model 1551 or 1552.
- Ignition key in position 2 (but do not start the engine).
- Input 25 (immobilizer).
- Input 10 (Adjustment)
- Input 00 (Channel 0)
- Acknowledge the prompt 'Delete learning values' with the key 'Q'.
- Adjustment complete; press the '->' button to exit.
- Turn off the ignition.

Upon the next ignition start-up, the engine control unit (ECU) identification code is read by the immobilizer control unit.
Activate speed control system.
- Connect the VAG tester, either model 1551 or 1552.
- Ignition key in position 2 (but do not start the engine).
- Input 01 (motor control)
- Input 11 (Login procedure)
- Input 11436 (Deactivation 16167)

If something happens with device 25, you have a WFS.
What year is your Golf?

The chips are only indirectly related to the WFS (Write Flash Sequence). The WFS information is stored in EEPROMs and remains intact even when the program chips are changed.
The STG measures the boost pressure inside (the sensor is located directly on the circuit board).

Unfortunately, I don't have a diagnostic tool.
My Golf is from the year 1996. Does the immobilizer system have anything to do with the magnet in the key?

Thanks for the tip about the turbocharger boost pressure; I just wanted to know where the hose connects to the engine.

Does anyone know how to properly connect the hoses? I'm already starting to despair! icon_sad.gif

Thanks again to Rudi. There have already been some helpful tips.

Hi,
The '96 already has a WFS, in my opinion.
If you don't have a VAG-COM adapter (and don't want to build one), then...
You probably need to ask someone from VAG to come by with a 1551/1552 (or transport the vehicle on a trailer).
Perhaps someone from this forum who lives in your area might be able to help with the adjustment.

I'll see if I can find another plan for the AFN regarding its piping system.

Best regards, Rudi.

It's nice to hear that. You're making me feel a little better icon_smile.gif.
I was on the verge of despair.

Okay, I'll look into finding someone who has a diagnostic tool tomorrow. Thank you very much for now. I'll get back to you tomorrow with any news or questions.

See you later!

Thank you, Rudi!

I received something similar from Volkswagen today. But yours is better explained.

Normal müßte ich doch das Ventil von der AGR zur Ladedrucksteuerung nehmen können. Die haben auch die gleiche Teilenummer, eins hat nur ein A dahinter. Ich denke die sind gleich. Die sehen auch gleich aus. WaWhat do you think?

Best regards,
The Golfman.
