Hi.
Yesterday, I finally had the time and opportunity to do it.
The repair kit contains the same components that are already included as standard.
2 tapered roller bearings.
2 rubber seals.
2 brass covers?
1 wave.
1 plastic pipe as a moisture barrier.
1 screw and nut.
Once the control arms are removed, the rest of the process isn't a big problem.
Actually.
Pry off the top cover using two sturdy screwdrivers.
Or drill a hole and then use the chisel.
Most of the remaining material will then come out with a hammer.
The bearing shells that are still in the control arm can be removed in the same way as from a drum brake.
Hammer, punch, etc.
By the way, the bearings don't break down due to wear and tear, but simply rust away because water penetrates them.
Actually, you don't even need an expensive repair kit, just the bearings.
However, I forgot to write down the exact size.
The assembly is relatively simple.
The wave ring was placed in the large vise, and the inner part of the first bearing was pressed into place.
Next, press the cover down until it aligns with the ridge.
(Vise with extension + large hammer)
And don't forget the rubber seal!
Make sure to insert the bearing shells into the control arms and don't forget the plastic sleeve in between.
Add a generous amount of fat.
Insert the wave spring with one bearing into the control arm, secure it in a vise, then press the second bearing and the second cover onto it.
If both covers are flush with the wave, then the bearing clearance is also correct.
Reinstall and done.
I just wanted to share something so that there aren't only questions here, but also answers.
Best regards, Frank.
