icon_question.gif Short question (couldn't find anything specific with the search):

I lost the remote control for my car's central locking system. When I called VW, they told me that I first need to find out which company manufactured the central locking and remote control unit (they mentioned something like 'in-pro' or 'for tec' or similar). Where can I find information about the central locking system, or how can I identify the model it is for? Thank you very much!

"Votex" is probably what the VW person would have called that nice piece of equipment. So, I'm assuming it's an aftermarket FFB (force feedback wheel). Votex units are generally connected directly to the vacuum pump with a short adapter cable. Therefore, I would try to locate that pump (you can hear it clearly when closing) and look for a small control unit nearby (about the size of a cigarette box). The manufacturer should be visible on the unit itself.
I can't say where the InPros are being introduced.

The vacuum pump, along with the attached control unit, is located in the trunk on the right side, behind the access panel.
in this black, polystyrene-like block.

Sure, here's the translation of the German text into English:

"Just to complete it in case there is no alternative:"
For the sedan, the control unit is also located in the right rear of the trunk, specifically inside the Styrofoam box under the headlight. Simply pull back the carpet in the trunk near the headlight, underneath the trim, and you can access it. Unfortunately, there isn't a flap icon_sad.gif.

Is that available? icon_eek.gif

No, seriously - thank you very much for the addition.

The inpro device is connected to the left side, behind the relay box.

Eine Ersatz FFB von Votex kann man kaum bezahlen. Very expensive.

I would recommend the Micro 8008 from www.ceam.de. It's a complete alarm system, but the keypad is excellent. I've personally tested it and it works reliably over at least 150 meters with its buttons.

Well, it's from Votex... I'll check with VW then. Or does anyone know of a cheaper alternative? Specifically, just replacing the control unit and remote control... icon_confused.gif

I would recommend the Micro 8008 from www.ceam.de.

Can I simply connect it? Don't I need the transmitter for programming, at least? And I don't have that anymore...

I would recommend the Micro 8008 from www.ceam.de.

Can I simply connect them, for example? To program them, don't I need the transmitter at least (which I no longer have)?

?? If you buy these, everything is included. Transmitter and receiver. But honestly: unlike the Votex, which is very easy to connect with plug & play, this one cannot be connected so easily. icon_confused.gif

As an alternative, there's also one from Waeco. However, I personally don't think it's very good because it has a very limited range. It costs around €75 with turn signal control.

For that, you will also receive a Votex replacement FFB from VW icon_evil.gif.
