Not really. While I'm lucky enough to always be within 5 km of a suitable "measuring track," the program isn't stupid and uses quite clever interpolation techniques. So, you don't have to let it run for an eternity.
As with any testing procedure, the devil is in the details; the person performing the measurement should understand what they are doing.
Ultimately, it often comes down to small details like whether someone simply reduces the throttle instead of disengaging the clutch when measuring drawbar power.
Similarly with performance correction according to DIN standards. If someone doesn't understand what it does or whether it's even appropriate in a specific case, it's better to leave it at the standard values rather than trying to "improve" things and potentially making them worse.

Without knowing the specific article, I would assume that such inconsistencies are due to significant user errors (see Rainer's response) and/or GPS measurement errors.

Is this measurement experiment available to view online anywhere?

That's exactly the point.
For example, one should not choose a 'runway' section that includes an uphill and downhill slope with an undefined gradient.
By carefully considering all the relevant parameters, it is possible to achieve sufficiently good results with a draft calculation tool.

Racelogic's products are fundamentally very useful, especially for open test tracks or proving grounds. However, the V-Box models I through III also find applications in a completely different price range.
