So, the Euro 1 should cost me €519.
It now costs €304 with the included VAT.
So, that saves about 215 euros.
'So, it only took a trip to the registration office with a document from Volkswagen (which cost us €10.70 at our local registration office).'

Friends, this topic has already been discussed several times!

Here's an example:
/viewtopic.php?t=2139&highlight=1z+conversion

How about trying a search?

It doesn't just depend on the MKB (engine code), but the vehicle identification number and the vehicle type play a crucial role. I experienced this with my old Passat. It was manufactured in June 1994 with a 1Z engine. The dealership has 'compatibility lists.' You can find an excerpt from these lists stating that it's possible to reclassify a vehicle like yours (XYZ) with VIN 1234567890 for registration purposes. This changes the type code, and then the bureaucratic machinery starts moving... I got back all the money (I think it was in 2003) that I had overpaid since the initial registration! I swear it's true!

It's likely that a pet store might be more interested in getting rid of a cat than in trying to find a home for it, so don't let them brush you off and keep pursuing the matter.

But as I said, the vehicle type and FGST number are equally important!

'So, in my case, according to the document from VW, the chassis number didn't match... but the registration office still processed it. They didn't notice, and I only realized it when I got home.'

Lucky you... With our shoes, that would have been immediately noticeable.

Does anyone have any more information or the instructions for having the vehicle converted/reprogrammed?

I also have a 1Z TDI engine that still meets Euro 1 emissions standards.

Hello,

You can obtain this document from the TÜV or a Volkswagen dealership.

I foolishly installed a new 'retrofit catalytic converter' on my car.
230 euros for nothing. Very frustrating.

Greetings.
