I'm at the point where I can now place an order, although I need to order the optocouplers separately from Conrad.
It's not that bad, though.

So, I was thinking about these: SLH 56 RT.
Are these the only products listed under 'super bright' at Reichelt?
I hope these fit.

Best regards,
Karsten.

It wouldn't open in the office, but IE 50 opened the PNG file at home.
Tiff-G4 is a fax standard that not only groups identical pixels in a row, but also analyzes the differences between two rows. I then tried it: PNG provides almost unbelievable compression, even better than G4.
I downloaded iview3.8, but it didn't help. Could it be that iview also relies on definitions that come from other programs, and that I'm missing those definitions?

Try using ACDSee; it works for me to open the file.
Besides that, it also works with my IE6.0 SP1.

Here's a trial version of the viewer: http://files.acdsystems.com/english/acdsee/acdsee.exe

Best regards,
Karsten.

Hi Karsten,

It will work out fine, because (super) bright LEDs are just for aesthetics; the electrical function is exactly the same as with standard components.

I'll try to tackle that in the next few days. I can't give you a specific date, though.
My AAT is still not working.
This could also be due to the control unit or the VAG-Com software.

Hi Christian,

If you are interested in my improved circuit (based on version 2.3), please contact me.

Is it possible to establish communication using non-opto adapters?
If so,
and } if even my "private" 2.5 configuration were to run on your system, then your case, in my opinion, would be a reason for another opto-adapter update, so that you might be able to save yourself the layout for the 2.4.

Okay, great, another new version! icon_wink.gif
Just kidding, continuous improvement is always a good thing!

My replica will likely take another one to two weeks to complete.
I have now found and ordered all the parts, but my platinum designer probably didn't take the trimmers into account. icon_mad.gif

I definitely can't find a place where they should go icon_cry.gif.
He probably assumed fixed 10k resistors. icon_confused.gif

Best regards,
Karsten.

Hi Ulf,
I haven't tested any adapters without optocouplers yet. I also don't know anyone in the area who has one.
A better version 2.3 would be interesting.
I also have a 2.4 layout ready, but I haven't built it myself yet, so there might still be some errors.

Hi Christian,

I'll send you the schematic diagram 2.5.

If you have the layout in Eagle format, could you please email it to me? (I hope I can open it, as I don't have much practical experience with it.)

Hi,
The layout is in Caddy, or derived from DXF and PPT formats. I downloaded Eagle once and found it quite awful. In any case, it's not worth the effort for me to learn it. By the way, I work as a CAD administrator during the day, but that hasn't helped either...
How can I send you something? Should I use my personal email address, or is there another way to do it within the forum?

Hi Christian,

I have Microsoft Powerpoint 2000 installed and can read PowerPoint presentations.
Please use my email address, provided below in the post, for emails with attachments.

My design is being turned into a circuit board today. icon_smile.gif
Well, it always takes him a week *wait* icon_rolleyes.gif.

All the parts are here already.
So, I think I'll probably be finished soon!

I'll let you know here again if it works.

Best regards,
Karsten.

Yesterday, I finally finished my first adapter, and today I'm borrowing a laptop to test it out.

Keep your fingers crossed for me icon_wink.gif.

Hello!

I'm following your creative work and success stories with great enthusiasm. I'm currently in the decision-making phase about which type of adapter I should choose.

Is it possible to obtain the Eagle data or Gerber files from you (the latter, of course, for a fee)? Based on my initial impression, I would prefer the OK-2.4 version, which, as far as I understand, no longer has communication issues and offers the greatest reliability. However, I'm open to being convinced otherwise. Ulf, do you have the Eagle data available, or would it be possible for you to send me a fabricated (milled) PCB? How much would you charge for that?

Best regards.

Ralf from Vienna.

Hi Ralf,

I don't have any ready-made PCBs; I only have an Eagle layout from kfh (see above in this thread), but the placement of some of the transistors and LEDs is still incorrect in the layout.

I'm not familiar enough with Eagle to correct that icon_redface.gif, but maybe kfh will send you a more recent version (possibly even a PCB?).

By the way, his Adapter 2.4 is working (I know this from a direct message).

You can actually download a different layout for Christian's 2.4 design as a regular graphic from the adapter article. This is correct, as far as I know.

Hi Ulf!

Wow, thanks, that was a quick response! It would be really great if kfh had the data or even a circuit board for me. By the way, where did you actually get the OBD-II connector? I've heard that there are some with thicker frames that might not fit (www.obd-2.de). I assume the cable doesn't need to be shielded on the vehicle side, right?

Best regards.
Ralf.

Hi Ralf,

My OBD connector came from a pocket-sized diagnostic tool, but AndyO still had some available, or knows a source where I can get one.

For approximately 10 kB, practically any discarded cable icon_smile.gif will probably work, as long as it doesn't have any internal short circuits or broken wires.
